I do know******** is your password.
You do not know me and you are probably thinking why you are getting this email, correct?

I hacked the OS of your device. I have already been watching for you for several days. The fact is that you were infected with malicious software through a website for adults that you visited (xvideos, pornhub, porn and fuq).

If you are not familiar with this, I will explain. The virus gives me full access to your PC and phone. This means that I can see your screen, turn on the camera and microphone, but you don't know about it. I also have access to all of your social contacts. networks and all your connections. I shot a video from your camera as you jerked off the toilet on porn and your face is clearly visible. I can also publish access to all your email and the messengers that you use.

If you want to prevent this, then: Transfer 300$ (USD) to my Bitcoin wallet (if you don't know how to make it, then write to Google: Buy Bitcoin).

My Bitcoin Wallet (BTC Wallet): bc1qlcjlm7mwds7h0x0pazpj4fcp6mjd5scwa9qvsc

After receiving the payment, I will remove the video and you will never hear from me again. I give you 24 hours for payment. I have a notification about reading this letter, and the timer will work when you see this letter. Filing a complaint somewhere does not make sense, because this letter cannot be traced, just like my Bitcoin address. I do not make mistakes. If I find out that you have shared this message with someone else, the video will be immediately distributed. Good luck!

I have run a scan and nothing showed up. I have changed my email password. Should I be worried?

Was it detected by ESET Antispam? What ESET product and email client do you use?

ESET NOD32 Antivirus doesn't contain antispam so obviously it could not be detected.

Ok but what do you think about the threats contained in the email? I know it stated my previous email password correctly but other things in it were not feasible - for instance it said it shot a video from my camera. I have a cover over this. it also lists some porn sites I've never even heard of.  I recon this is just a try on but still the **** got my password.

It's a scam, just ignore it. You can check https://haveibeenpwned.com/ to find out if somebody could get your password by hacking a 3rd party website or service where you were registered and change your passwords, if necessary. Please read https://www.welivesecurity.com/2020/04/30/new-sextortion-scam-claims-know-your-password/ for more information.

I posted something about this a few months ago

This was after I'd received the same email a few times although slightly different wording each time. The password it claimed I used was incorrect.

As you mentioned if guessed your password correctly because it will have found a password you have used via leaks and then uses that in the email to make it seem more genuine. Id recommend checking the link Marcos gave to see if any sites you have used have been compromised and change your passwords for these sites. A good idea is also to set up two factor authentication wherever available
