Autrui 0
Hi, I've some troubles with Google Chrome and Eset. Since I've installed Eset Smart Security 7, Google Chrome randomly crashes. Well, not so randomly, but ramdomly when I press Ctrl + W to close some tabs. I never had this before Eset, and when I'm in the safe mode on Windows 8, Chrome doesn't crash. And when I'm in normal mode, but with Eset disable in msconfig for the startup, Chrome doesn't crash neither. So, I would need some help in order to fix that, because I like both Chrome and Eset, but i really don't know how to fix that. I tried to add some rules in the firewall for Chrome, but it doesn't work... i'm in interactive mode for the firewall. The second and third pic attached are the rules for Chrome.exe. And the last pic is the window that pop-up when Chrome crashes. Thanks for your help
Administrators Marcos 5,274 Posted May 5, 2014 Administrators Share Posted May 5, 2014 Does temporarily disabling the firewall via gui make a difference? If so, I'd suggest ruling out the possibility that an already created blocking firewall rule causes Chrome to crash by unticking all custom firewall rules. Does the crash still occur then? With all custom rules disabled, does switching the firewall to learning mode help?
Autrui 0
Disabling the firewall via gui doesn't make a difference, Chrome is crashing too... :/
Administrators Marcos 5,274 Posted May 5, 2014 Administrators Share Posted May 5, 2014 What about changing the firewall integration to "Only scan application protocols" or "Personal firewall is completely disabled" ? Just in case, restart the computer after changing this setting.
Autrui 0
I've tried the Only Scan application protocol, but Chrome has crashed a few seconds ago. I will try the Personnal firewall completely disabled... :'(
Autrui 0
The personnal firewall is completely disabled, but Chrome is still crashing... Any idea ?
Arakasi 549
Trying to find what is causing crash, Try disable protection from the tray menu. See if crash occurs. If yes, Re-enable protection, then... Try Disable HIPS followed by a restart. See if it still crashes. Once we find the culprit, we can start repair or fixing.
Autrui 0
After 2/3 hours trying to make Chrome crashes, I didn't succeed in that. With every component of Eset enabled, Chrome doesn't crash, but I thought it was just a coincidence. So I disabled protection, but still no crashes. I made some researchs about HIPS, and I took the initiative to set interactive mode, reboot, I launched Chrome (which is reaaaaaallyyyyyyyy faster than before, and by before I mean than this morning or afternoon or ever after I allowed some interactions with HIPS (why ???)) and I'm trying right now to see if crash occurs. Sorry if I've been fast, to decide to do this by myself, but the fact is I have to go for a week without my computer, so I wanted to save some time (yours and mine). I will come back to tell if Chrome still crash or not. Thanks for your help

Autrui 0
Hi, So, since my last post, it was a bit better for a few days, but now Chrome is crashing really often. I disabled protection, but it was still crashing, and then I totally disabled HIPS, but Chrome is still crashing... Do you have any other idea ? Thanks
Administrators Marcos 5,274 Posted May 22, 2014 Administrators Share Posted May 22, 2014 You can try uninstalling ESS and installing ESET NOD32 Antivirus to see if it makes a difference.
