Remote Management for a legacy system

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I need your help to in order to setup a remote management system based on ESET solutions for a legacy system composed by a Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2 Standard edition 32 bit and about ten client based on Windows XP Embedded SP3 32 bit. I've read in ESET KBs that the basic support is guaranteed yet. I know that they are very old unsupported OS but at this moment is not possible to upgrade them and they are physically isolated from the rest of the company and from Internet.

Is it possible to implement a solution based on ESET Remote Administrator on the server and an Antivirus agent on clients ? Otherwise do you confirm that I need to buy and install NOD32 Antivirus version 9 on the server and all client devices ?

Thank you in advance

You can install the latest Endpoint 6.5 on Windows XP, however, it will reach EOL towards the end of the year. As for Windows Server 2003, EFSW 6.5 supports it but it will also reach EOL this year.

EAV v9 that you mentioned is a consumer product and cannot be managed.

Note that even with antivirus installed on these systems they won't be secure due to unpatched vulnerabilities they have.

Ok, so I need EES 6.5 for clients and EFSW 6.5 for the server.

What about the remote management ? Do I need also to install ERA v6.5.34.0 on a dedicated server ?

The last question: Offline activation is possible for all these products ?

Thank you very much

You can deploy ESMC virtual appliance on a hypervisor, then generate all-in-one or live installers and deploy agent on clients. If you don't have any hypervisor but have a spare Linux/Windows server, you can install the management console there. You can also upgrade your license to use ESET Cloud Administrator for managing clients in cloud.
