3bdex 0 Posted April 13, 2020 Posted April 13, 2020 I have been trying to enable ESET's Web Control feature to block URLs using "Category based" filtering but it seems it only works on Microsoft Edge. When testing on Chrome or Firefox, the URLs are accessible. Is there any step required to get it to work for all browsers? I'm using ESET Endpoint Security Ver 7.1
schuetzdentalCB 8 Posted April 13, 2020 Posted April 13, 2020 Do you have SSL/TLS Filtering enabled? And on the same Policypage "add root cert to browser" - Function Enabled? I think ESET needs to work with its own browser cert to decrypt browsed https pages. 3bdex 1
Administrators Marcos 5,444 Posted April 13, 2020 Administrators Posted April 13, 2020 That's correct, SSL filtering must be enabled and work in order for Web Control to work effectively. Web Control works with any browser, it's not dependent on it whatsoever.
3bdex 0 Posted April 14, 2020 Author Posted April 14, 2020 Thanks, SSL/TLS Filtering as well as "Add Root Cert" are enabled but same result.
Administrators Marcos 5,444 Posted April 14, 2020 Administrators Posted April 14, 2020 Then it could be a problem receiving DNS TXT responses. Carry on as follows: - in the advanced setup -> Tools -> Diagnostics enable advanced network protection and advanced Web Control logging - reproduce the issue - disable logging - collect logs with ESET Log Collector and provide the generated archive for perusal. 3bdex 1
3bdex 0 Posted April 14, 2020 Author Posted April 14, 2020 Thanks Marcos. I just discovered that there was a policy on the ESMC that was excluding those three browsers from protocol filtering. Removing the policy fixed the issue. Thank you for your help.
