As the name suggests, it's a javascript responsible for displaying ads. Can be found on scam sites telling the visitor that he or she has won a cell phone, etc.

Since AT&T now owns AppNexus, will be interesting to see how this plays out if they take Eset to court over blocking of their ads.

Appears the main issue is secure configuation of AppNexus by web site admins:

Yes. Well, checking every single banner is not ideal since they can mask things in GEO IP targeting to specific users/devices/GEO
