What do you get for beta testing to software?

Actually nothing , but you get to see the product before and you get to report bugs to ESET :D , so it's more what you give not what you get

V13 is planned to be released in Q4 this year. More information to follow soon.聽 The beta is available to Insider program members.

Consumer VPN use is widespread now. Eset 12 has many bugs related to VPN use, and the devs are negligent in fixing these bugs. In fact they're聽never fixed for years, and the impression is, Eset package is simply not tested by devs to be continuously used in consumer VPN聽environment. Eset also has no controls or interface聽features related to VPN use.

Examples are regular excessive lengthy Eset CPU and HDD load when switching VPN on and off.聽Also Eset Firewall failure to restore settings in Interactive Mode after firewall is switched off while VPN is enabled, and then switched on while VPN is disabled, or vice versa.

When reading Eset Help docs, the impression is Eset team purposely ignores the overwhelming trend on the consumer market during last years of using VPN, and devotes no technical or knowledge base articles to this very issue. Further, when contacting Eset support, they bring every fake reason to refuse investigating issues related to Eset failures to work properly in VPN environment.

In Help docs, Eset writers make it聽look that聽VPN is only used and of interest to聽enterprise market,聽and consumers should not ask any questions, or report any bugs related to Eset consumer products systematically failing for years to work properly with VPN.

Instead of saying "Thank聽you" for reporting never fixed bugs, Eset reps claim they can't find one's license, or its expired, or how it was obtained etc, trying to find a reason to refuse the bugs investigation.

Meanwhile, reporting bugs is users free gift to Eset, and the bugs must be fixed to benefit all paying and testing product customers, regardless who reported them and under what conditions. Most large companies have Bug trackers where anyone can enter bugs, it does NOT require any license proof at all, because bug reports are free donations to the very rich Eset company, allowing it to get ever richer.

On this forum, Eset reps also systematically ignore all user posts and threads related to VPN聽issues聽with Eset. This seems to be thick culture within Eset company of aggressively ignoring and denying existence of burgeoning consumer VPN market, thus making Eset聽less and less attractive to consumers despite cosmetic changes in slightly updated new product versions.

I know my post will be deleted, ignored again, or attacked by Eset paid guns, who also attacked them in the past, while Eset has no intention to change this ill long obsolete culture of ignoring consumer VPN market.

We are not aware of any VPN related issues.聽If you know of any, please post links or describe the issue(s) in detail. Also make sure to report them to your local customer care with step-by-step instructions how to reproduce them.

We are not a VPN provider so the problems could easily lie in the VPN you use. Therefore each issue has to reproduced and analyzed before concluding that it's issue on ESET's end. Moreover, we nowhere declared compatibility with particular VPNs. Basically there should be no issues; we too have聽used VPN in tandem with ESET for years.

And , please Design Eset .

I've seen some AVs in the past redesign their UI each year. I have wondered if it's partly due to the fact there may not be much difference between new versions but a new interface may disguise that. I used to use BitDefender many years ago which if I remember correctly for a while was guilty of changing things.

I have no problem with tweaks to the UI which eset occasionally does but changing too much can actually聽 cause issues as people have gotten used to the old design. Sometimes a change is needed but sometimes change for the sake of it can be a bad thing.

There are a few things I would like to see added however which I have brought up. For example when you open eset on the home page area (the default area eset lands on) there is some blank space that I feel could be better utilised. One idea I had was to have the firewall troubleshooter there as it is a handy tool that a lot of people either don't know about or don't know where it is and saves clicking through options to find as its right there as soon as you open it.

I also think being able to add and change what you see when you right click on the eset icon in the taskbar would be great so users could add their favourite stuff. For example someone who was a gamer and used the gamer mode a lot could add it so they could simply right click and enable/disable. Not all users would use this so having it customisable would help this

The "big enhancement" in ver. 13 is advanced machine learning. Just enable Eset pre-release updating in your current Eset ver. and you will receive the AML module.

One such issue was described in Eset Firewall Bugs and multiple similar threads, I now can't find in Archive because full user posts History is not preserved on this forum.聽Eset Firewall fails聽to restore settings in Interactive Mode after firewall is switched off while VPN is enabled, and then switched on while VPN tunnel is disabled, or vice versa.

Another issue is described in聽Switching on/off VPN causes lengthy ESET checks. When VPN tunnel (Windscribe being a VPN package example)聽is switched on or off (in particular when聽internet browser is open with multiple tabs), it triggers the system to change聽Windows network adapter, and causes excessive聽and lengthy CPU and HDD activity by Eset each time (not by the system or browser), as聽there is no Learning mechanism in Eset for such VPN events. Same activity happens when a user changes VPN server from the same provider's list, as聽it triggers changing IP address of the Windows VPN network adapter.

You'd need to uninstall v12.2 and install the v13 beta from the appropriate link received from ESET Centercode.

I'll check again I know I have 12.2.30.0 though, buy I did look through the settings and couldn't find anything to play with there.

Save yourself some time and stop looking. There is no option in the Eset GUI for 12.2.30 in regards to enabling AML. That won't exist until ver. 13.

The scenario here is the same prior to when advanced behavior blocking was implemented. That is the feature in the form of the module being present is fully functional as far as I am aware of.

I think the problem is the user may be聽signed up for the beta version which to my knowledge has not been released. It is only released for the insider version which is separate and I believe invite only possibly from @Peter Randziak

@MarcosCan someone please ban this user. Reported another of his posts the other week. Noticed something strange as one of his post seemed to be exactly the same post I made. User is basically copying someones post and reposting and then editing at a later date to add a spam link. Possibly hopes users will not notice because the link is not originaly included but have been keeping an eye out聽
