ESET generates a bunch of audit failures in Event Viewer (INF and FONT files)

Hi,

My Windows 7 Security event log is absolutely full of audit failures generated by ESET NOD32. Most of them are triggered when ekern.exe is trying to access font (TTF / TTC) files or INF files.

I will certainly exclude c:\windows\inf and c:\windows\fonts. Is this risky?

Thanks.

Basically those files shouldn't be scanned by ESET. Try excluding the appropriate folders to see if the errors go away. Excluding any object poses a risk as malware can copy to a folder or infect a file that would otherwise be recognized and blocked.
