database 0
Hello again, after waiting for all the clients to receive the ESMC policy with the new server address, I stopped the old server service and made a SQL backup as per the migration procedure ( https://support.eset.com/kb6764/?locale=en_US&viewlocale=en_US ) The old server is at address 192.168.2.18 and the new appliance was given temporary address 2.36, which should become permanent. I log on to the VA and load the renamed backup db, but at import time the VA throws an error about missing era_db in the header. After importing it, the VA reboots and shows "configuring" and just sits there. The log shows an error resetting the network card. Do I have to turn off the old server for the VA to finish its config? The migration instructions seem to suggest that MySQL is the default; do I have to perform any operations on the MS SQL backup? I didn't do anything except renaming it as per the procedure. Thanks!
Administrators Marcos 5,278 Posted January 11, 2019 Administrators Share Posted January 11, 2019 It is not possible to migrate between different types of DB. If you've used MS SQL, you will need to continue using it; migration to MySQL won't be possible. Or use a new MySQL db from scratch.
database 0
Thanks Marcos. Can the MS SQL db be imported to the appliance? The migration procedure seems to support this.
database 0
Hello, I'm bumping the thread because I'd really like to know how to import all my clients to the new appliance. I can recreate settings, but I don't want to add 120 clients one by one. Thanks
ESET Staff MichalJ 434 Posted January 16, 2019 ESET Staff Share Posted January 16, 2019 In general I would recommend to just let them connect to the new server. You can use this procedure: https://help.eset.com/esmc_install/70/en-US/?migration_same_version.html But before I would recommend to upgrade the appliance to the same version, and then stick to this procedure above. You can actually migrate the policies by exporting and improting them, only thing to be done then is the assignment. How complex is your group structure? Do you have an AD?
