I also realize that these error messages below are constant and would like to know what you can do to resolve them. I have already sent a report to Eset support, but I did not get an answer. Most Valued Members Nightowl 206 Posted November 9, 2018 Most Valued Members Posted November 9, 2018 @Serial.com, Most of these problems are caused by AppArmor , ESET v4 is not compatible with AppArmor/SELinux I've tried to test things here and there , ESET still does do it's job while AppArmor is enabled (I didn't try with AppArmor disabled) , but it encounters lot of errors , and while scanning AppArmor will prevent ESET from accessing most files as far as I have noticed. I don't know if there is a workaround for AppArmor to allow ESET , but I don't want to disable it and I don't want to remove ESET.
Serial.com 2 Posted November 9, 2018 Author Posted November 9, 2018 (edited) Hello @Rami Thanks for the clarifications. I also have the same opinion as yours. Eset needs to do her homework and see how to solve it. Serial.com Edited November 9, 2018 by Serial.com
Most Valued Members Nightowl 206 Posted November 9, 2018 Most Valued Members Posted November 9, 2018 It seems that ESET Linux home edition isn't being used by that much users so it's not top priority like Windows , but I would love to see the linux version getting updated even though that ESET engines do get updated but still problem persist in it , and it's missing lot of features that v12 does have. But still I will be keeping v4 for my Linux.
Serial.com 2 Posted November 9, 2018 Author Posted November 9, 2018 Hello @Rami For linux it still seems to be the best option we have.
Most Valued Members Nightowl 206 Posted November 9, 2018 Most Valued Members Posted November 9, 2018 Indeed as I don't want to start messing with another AV and start to get used to everything in it etc , so I prefer to stay with ESET and wait for fixes.
Serial.com 2 Posted November 13, 2018 Author Posted November 13, 2018 Hello Technical Support In the case of laymen, such as myself, we aim to buy the product and install it for our security, where we expect the product of the message, without much deluge. In the case of the AV in question, it could not collaborate in this matter, through an information to the user saying that such procedure (Apparmor Deactivation) must be performed at the moment the AV is being installed so that it is arranged to deactivate the Apparmor , or does the software itself perform this procedure more simply, through internal commands embedded in the package? The libc6: i386 are warned and because Apparmor or SEliux we are not warned? Should not they make life easier for users with at least one more warning? On your site there is not, or at least I did not see the information on how to do this procedure in disabling or removing Apparmor. The only situation I encountered was this at the following link: https://bit.ly/2PUllgn. The Tip for Developers for new upgrades of this excellent product is thank you for a return of cooo correctly disable the apparmor for correct installation of Eset for Linux. Edson Santos
Most Valued Members Nightowl 206 Posted November 13, 2018 Most Valued Members Posted November 13, 2018 (edited) It's not recommended to disable SELinux / AppArmor because the Security of the system relies on them, what makes me afraid that ESET is not working properly and I might be infected in one way or the another I see that you have opened a bug report in Ubuntu Launchpad , but I am afraid they won't do much help because it's not their problem , it's ESET's problem I don't know if I should move on to Sophos as they do support Linux or I should stay with ESET because the license is still there , but I don't know if it's doing it's job properly The AV engines do get updated , but v4 is about 8-9 years old now, and mostly if I am not mistaken , it doesn't do its job properly because it cannot reach many areas. Edited November 13, 2018 by Rami
Serial.com 2 Posted November 13, 2018 Author Posted November 13, 2018 Hello Rami Faced with this situation we have to ask for reimbursement to Eset for the purchase of a lagged and inefficient product, wait for the good will of the team to find a solution to this problem or leave for another Av that meets the needs of Linux users. What is more worrying is the unwillingness to rerun or debrief about it. Serial

It worries me to think that the AV that is running to protect me is not really protecting me because it's not compatible with the system protection. @Marcos , @Peter Randziak - A reply would be much appreciated , so If we aren't protected , it would be sad to be infected while running v4 , if it's not safe please advice and tell us to stop using it or keep using it it's okay. Most Valued Members Nightowl 206 Posted November 29, 2018 Most Valued Members Posted November 29, 2018 (edited) I do believe that Linux version is not top priority for ESET Team , The workaround that you can do is trying to configure AppArmor to work along ESET or disable it(NOT RECOMMENDED), or wait for an update by ESET Team. I did try to configure the AppArmor for ESET , which asks for permission libesets.pac , but that's not all , there are still other things that should be a allowed in order for ESET to work properly , but an explanation by the ESET team would help. Beware that the log of ESET 4 Linux can grow up to a big size log files , because of the events log which every while will log some errors and will keep doing that if the system is running.
