mrothe 0 Posted October 26, 2018 Posted October 26, 2018 Hi. I am attempting to scan a number of file-shares on a NetApp device from a server 2016 VM running ESET File Server Security 7.0.12014.0 The problem that I have is that the NetApp snapshot technology dynamically creates a \\netapp\sharename\~snapshot\hourly.2018-10-25_XXXX directory each hour and, since this is a fairly large share that takes a while to scan, the scan never finishes, It also gives a lot of duplicates of threats that have been discovered in each hourly snapshot. I know I can exclude directory paths from the real-time scanning and I can exclude particular file extensions from an on-demand scan profile but I can't see a way of excluding the ~snapshot directory entirely. There are several hundred other directories in the share so I don't want to have to add each one manually as a target. Does anyone know if there's a workaround for this?

mrothe 0 Posted October 29, 2018 Author Posted October 29, 2018 Hi. I spent some time looking at this last week and I think I've found a solution. I added the full network path into the "Detection Engine" -> "Exclusions" list on the security management centre and it worked.
