jakeycrx 0
I've got a very annoying browser hijacker that keeps redirecting me to Yahoo when using Google. I've run numerous scans but ESET doesn't find it. Is it possible for ESET to find the browser hijacker and get rid of it or will I have to do it manually? itman 1,538
You didn't state what browsers you are using. I would start diagnosis by disabling all the browsers extensions. If the problem then disappears, it indicates the problem source is one of those extensions. You can also use something like SysInternal's Autoruns. Check under the browser hijack tab to see if anything is listed there.
jakeycrx 0
Sorted it. It was a Chrome extension causing the redirect. It seems nothing can actually pick this up. The only way I found out was by disabling my extensions one by one.
Administrators Marcos 4,704 Posted September 21, 2018 Administrators Share Posted September 21, 2018 Just out of curiosity, what Chrome extension it was?
jakeycrx 0
It was a VPN extension. I didn't think it was an extension because I haven't added any new extensions for at least 3 months and my redirect problem only started last week.
