Kastaka 0
Social Fixer, a popular FB-related browser addon, obtains some files from matt-kruze.github.io in order to operate standard filter lists. Recently (in the last few days), ESET has started blocking these requests. What's the procedure for getting this block removed, if it is possible to do so? Many Social Fixer users are using it in environments where their employers control the ESET settings, so individual whitelisting is not an available solution. Administrators Marcos 4,919 Posted September 18, 2018 Administrators Share Posted September 18, 2018 Please provide a screen shot of the alert that you are getting, ideally a complete record (whole row) from the appropriate ESET log.

Administrators Marcos 4,919 Posted September 18, 2018 Administrators Share Posted September 18, 2018 Are you sure it's still blocked?
Kastaka 0
No - I'll see if it pops up again in the next few days and let you know.
Talented18 0
I have had this problem today and have a snip, if I can figure out how to attach it
Administrators Marcos 4,919 Posted September 18, 2018 Administrators Share Posted September 18, 2018 Was the screen shot taken right now? I asked if the problem still persisted, ie. if the url was blocked a few minutes ago or if it still is being blocked.
Talented18 0
Mine was created 4 hrs ago. I have done nothing but report it to Matt Kruse in Social Fixer Support Group, he replied:Matt Kruse This github url is not ideal, but there are some requirements in browser extensions about using a secure server, etc. This has been the simplest solution til now, but if it is causing new problems I will considering changing it. So This reply from him is just a 24 minutes old as of now

Talented18 0
I have also just run a log collector for TODAY, would you like that file? This popped up, I know not what it means

Administrators Marcos 4,919 Posted September 18, 2018 Administrators Share Posted September 18, 2018 For now we don't need any logs. If you update modules and open the website in question, is it still blocked? I assume it was an IP address blocked that was removed from blacklist a couple of hours ago. Hence I asked if the problem still persisted.
Talented18 0
For me, 4 hrs ago I went to my Newsfeed in Facebook for the first time in a couple of days, and that initial snip/ESET blocking popped up. Newsfeed has become nothing but an advertising place for Facebook, so I post my stuff and leave, only monitoring if someone comments. The Github location was wherePatricia WhaleyPatricia and 6 others manage the membership, moderators, settings, and posts for Social Fixer User Support. Jerry, the blocked address is the site where all the subscription Filters and Tweaks reside, and you need to whitelist that with your antivirus or you will not be able to use any of those Filters/Tweaks. I had to leave for a few hours, and I've only just now picked up trying to sort through it.
Matt Kruse 0
Hi, I am the author of Social Fixer. The github site does exist, but only if you actually go to the exact url of a file. For example: https://matt-kruse.github.io/socialfixerdata/filters.json The JSON files retrieved by the extension are configuration data, to adapt to the ever-changing Facebook environment. Hosting them on github allows other contributors to add fixes as necessary, and have them instantly go live to users.
Administrators Marcos 4,919 Posted September 18, 2018 Administrators Share Posted September 18, 2018 The json file can be downloaded without ESET blocking the download.

Daedalus 16
That is strange the first time I went to https://matt-kruse.github.io/socialfixerdata/filters.json I saw the "text" file. But the second time I got an 404 file not found from github

Matt Kruse 0
I don't know how that extra garbage was added to the url, could be the forum adding it. Without it, it should load every time.

Talented18 0
So, what do I need to do Marcos 58 minutes ago, Marcos said: The json file can be downloaded without ESET blocking the download. What is it that I as a user need to do so that the filters will work again?
Talented18 0
I guess I don't have to do anything. Some are saying that you've stopped blocking it now.
itman 1,629
From anyone still having problems downloading, copy the following URL into your browser, https://matt-kruse.github.io/socialfixerdata/filters.json Do not copy the corresponding link from above posted thread reply. If you do, trailing characters will be added to the link and you will receive a 404 not found reply from the browser. Only Eset can explain why those characters are being added.
