Serious issue

Today I installed set nod32 antivirus version 7.0.302.26

After installing my windows 8.1 machine started freezing. Not responding, and failing to open any programs ends up on black screen all the time. I managed to try uninstall but around 85% through it popped up saying I did not have admin privileges to remove? Which is strange as my account is the only one on this machine..

Now the machine crashes constantly I can't open anything and am the performance is terrible previously boot time was 7 sec dead.. It now takes over 35 sec to boot up!!!

How can I remove this program and fix my PC..

I am a little confused to your story here.

Today you installed nod32. - Got it !

After you installed your windows 8.1 ? When did you install windows 8.1 ? After ESET or before ?

Did you perform an upgrade install from windows 7 or similar ?

 

I don't believe ESET is the cause of your issues. Because it has already been proven to be compatible and work on millions of other machines perfectly.

You have some sort of configuration issue with windows or conflicting software that has caused these issues.

 

To uninstall ESET. Boot to Safemode and run the ESET Uninstaller from here :

Extra : If you had an access denied by admin privileges, and you are running a compromised account with ACL damage.......

You can open an elevated command prompt and type : "net user administrator /active:yes"

Then log out and switch to the local admin to correct damages.

Do not use this account for everyday use, and i recommend disabling it again when finished : "net user administrator /active:no"

Thanks I had windows 8 and updates to windows 8.1

I only download the antivirus less than 1 hr ago. After it installed the computer started lagging severely so I attempted an uninstall. To which I was met with the message I needed admin privileges,

The computer is only 3 months old and worked fantastic up until the install of nod32 the boot times are seriously increased from 7 sec to over 30 now' the performers is seriously effected also if I click on something now I am waiting over a min some times before it opens or I get a not responding issue which I never had before installing.

I will attempt your method and post how I get on but I do feel there must be an issue somewhere as there was no problems before instlal

Looks like I can't even get any browsers open without issues so can't download that uninstaller, it's like being on windows 95 now certainly not the same power as before with 3.1ghz processed and 12gb ram. It's running super slow now and I can't click on anything without it crashing...

Boot to Safe mode with networking.

I believe you and your current issues, no need for a video.

It could be HIPS causing your issue. can you even open the ESET gui interface to make changes ?

I can't do anything. Nothing is working without freezing or not responding. How do I boot windows 8 to safe mode I can't even get a browser open to download that uninstalled you linked me to.

You will get no where without safemode.

Please try and report back.

Uninstall or remove ESET through Add remove programs in safemode.

Or try a diagnostic start to remove.

Hold the windows key on your keyboard and press +R

Type in msconfig on the new window.

Select diagnostic start and reboot.

Managed to get into msconfig and set it to run on safe mode as when I pressed f8 I get the asus uffi or effi pages

Excellent, try uninstalling and see if it helps.

 

It could be you have a failing hard drive.

New PC or not. They can last 6 months, or 10 years.  Hard drives.

Trying to uninstall in safe mode I get..

The windows installer service is not accessible in safe mode, please try again when your computer is not in safe mode or you can use system restore to return your machine to a previous good state.

Managed to get the uninstalled to run in safe mode. As far as I can tell it has removed all traces of nod32 performance is back to normal no waiting for loading and boot time is back to 7 sec. Not sure why there was an issue but it was most definitely caused by this anti virus being installed as it's fine now back to normal.

Has there been any updates recently that could cause stability issues to fresh installs? I use ssd drives

It could have been a bad install simply.

No there hasnt been any major problems with windows 8.

SSD is not a problem. I use Nand flash pci ex card for my Main OS drive. Its SSD

 

I would try one more round of installing, and see if the install goes better.

If you see issues again. I would defer to ESET for assistance and remove it again.

ESET is a great product and as a reseller, i promote it to all my customers everyday.

I Install it on a computer once a day minimum.

From what I can see, and I have been up all night looking, It's a problem with device protection and certain drivers. Whilst my new laptop seemed okay my desktop got horribly broken. BIOS was showing all my drives correctly but Windows had no idea what was going on, it thought my cdrom was a usb drive and had my hard drives in the wrong order eventually gave up and crashed spectacularly.

What started as a simple auto update definition failure has turned into possibly the worse software caused mess I have seen, ending in me re installing Windows.

This was on a clean Windows install all drivers found by windows update, as I have an old motherboard, however all my devices in device manager are labelled correctly with no unknown or generic devices. 

I have had no problems at all since the re install, 12 hours. much gaming and many re boots.

If however my PC dies in the near future I will apologise, however it looks rock solid at the moment.

All voltages etc are near perfect.

Do you mean that your computer is crashing or freezing? In either case, we'll need to get a complete memory dump for further analysis.

We have same problem with Dell Latitude (Windows 8.1) and NOD32 v7.0. The computer is freezing constantly or extremely slow after boot. We had exact problem few months ago with Asus notebook. In both cases computers had SSD drive. After system restore before NOD installation everything works normally.

I have the same problem installing ESET 7 on a brand NEW window 8.1 laptop. After installation, the laptop load SUPER DUPER slow and constantly not responding. After 3 FREAKING HOURS of waiting, I finally uninstall ESET 7 and get back the laptop to be working as per normal!

 

There's seriously some problem with the ESET working on window 8.1. Please figure out what's wrong because this is affecting your computer reputation and also customer satisfaction. It suppose to be the best in the market man!

please contact your local ESET technical support, they will assist you with the issue.

The most common issue with brand new laptops is other pre-installed AV software, please check if you have some.

 

Please post back your findings.
