DeRuijter 2
Hello, I have a file that I know is infected but NOD 32 is not detecting it. However when I upload the file to Virustotal or Jotti it says that Nod32 actually detects it. What options should I change so it gets detected by my desktop application? https://www.virustotal.com/#/file/b50816ecc6ec849fcb0ed0677c8a6b1f0867a74638679bcafc4f63dcc5b2e1ef/detection https://virusscan.jotti.org/en-US/filescanjob/gaeu6u0m2y
Administrators Marcos 5,259 Posted September 4, 2018 Administrators Share Posted September 4, 2018 The file is not infected, it's just a keygen. Normally ESET doesn't detect keygens but if they are, they are usually detected as potentially unwanted applications. Detection of potentially unwanted applications can be enabled either during install or later in the advanced setup.
DeRuijter 2
nvm, as I was checking the options I ticked the "Enable detection of potentially unsafe applications". I didnt see it before because every time I would go to the Advanced setup it opens in Real-time file system protection rather than in Detection Engine. galaxy 11
I love eset, a keygen is not a virus. Some AV providers do this unfortunately ? Edited September 8, 2018 by galaxy
galaxy 11
But now you should not be able to use the file anymore, because what is not quite OK with the file
