Wapak 0
Hi, I actually saw a thread about disabling the update splash screen, https://forum.eset.com/topic/9078-how-to-disable-upgrade-splash-screen/. I have read that v8 and v9 have the same protection, which means it isn't really necessary for me to upgrade to that version. I have tried using v9 for a month and I am really not comfortable with its UI. So I prefer to still use v8. There was one fellow who said that he was able to get rid of that splash screen. https://forum.eset.com/topic/9078-how-to-disable-upgrade-splash-screen/?do=findComment&comment=55827. But unfortunately, he didn't say how he did that. I already unchecked the "Regularly check for latest product version" but still, I am getting that splash screen from time to time. After going through the old thread, I can't seem to find any accurate answer that would totally address this. Also, I am already aware that you will be ending the support of version 8 until 12/2018. By any chance, is there a way that I would only get that splash screen again by December? P.S. I noticed there were some rude comments on the old thread, please do understand that not all people can be comfortable just because some people are. Each individual has their own preference on how they use their computers, not to mention that not all users nowadays are actually knowledgeable using one. So, let us please respect that. Thank you! Administrators Marcos 4,694 Posted September 2, 2018 Administrators Share Posted September 2, 2018 Basically it is not possible. According to https://support.eset.com/kb3678/, v8 will reach its end of life in Dec 2018, ie. in less than 4 months. After that date, updates will not be guaranteed and may be cut without any prior notice. If you are using a newer OS than Windows XP, please upgrade to the latest version v11.2.49. On Windows XP, v9 is the latest version which is officially supported.

I am actually looking forward to use the newer version but for the mean time, is there any way? I am currently checking my Registry Editor as we speak. By any chance, can I block the upgrade.exe under C:\Program Files\ESET\ESET Smart Security\x86. Also, do you know what is the purpose for the SkipLegacyUpgrade key in the Registry?
