bigwrench 0
Is there any way to do a "batch install" of 2000+ addresses that I'd like to import to my ESET blacklist, in the ESET anti spam address book? It really looks like I'm only able to do 1 at a time. However, I have GData on another PC, with the same email program, Outlook, and I'm fully able to import/export batches from a list, such as....documents, notepad, etc. Any ideas? Administrators Marcos 5,274 Posted April 7, 2018 Administrators Share Posted April 7, 2018 It is not possible, at least not currently. Importing a big number of addresses may also have adverse effect on performance. Do you receive a lot of undetected spam in Outlook from those addresses despite having ESET's antispam in place? bigwrench 0
Thanks Marcos for your quick response. Currently I have 14,000 blacklisted addresses in my Eset address book, and 8,000 in my GData address book. Was wanting to import the ones from GData to Eset, and export the 14,000 to GData. I get a lot of spam that Outlook misses. And don’t want to set the junk filter in Outlook up too high, as good email gets caught accidentally. Also, ESET and GDATA both do a fantastic job, antispam wise. Have never seen any performance issues with either. Administrators Marcos 5,274 Posted April 7, 2018 Administrators Share Posted April 7, 2018 Tomorrow please provide me with very fresh examples of missed spam that went through ESET's antispam. I'll check with developers if they are really very fresh and you received them just seconds or minutes before we added detection. We use various techniques and heuristic methods to identify spam and this can change over time, hence I'd like to check it with as fresh samples as possible. bigwrench 0
Marcos, I feel that you have missed the point. I merely want to import a batch of spam addresses FROM gdata, TO eset, and vice versa. only looking to populate my 2 current antispam "programs". I'm not having any issues whatsoever with missed detection. Looking only to add more than a single address at a time. Looking only to bulk up my blacklists. Administrators Marcos 5,274 Posted April 7, 2018 Administrators Share Posted April 7, 2018 As I wrote, this is not possible. It's possible to export the configuration to an xml file and extract email addresses from it and vice-versa using a script. Since you don't have any issues with missed spam, then there should be no need to use custom email address blacklist. It's useful in case you receive only spam from particular addresses and it's not always evaluated as spam by ESET's antispam.
