Excessive logging in the system log

Recommended Posts

There are thousands of "Event occurred during an attempt to access the file." entries being generated in the mac system log, at times churning out a rate of 5-10 entries per second.

Examples:

Apr  1 15:14:36 MyHost esets[282]: summ[011a0200]: ESET Daemon: vdb=36899, agent=fac, name="/private/var/folders/t5/ylp0l1_j1mv3rt47b085q_zm0000gn/T/com.apple.mail/TemporaryItems/(A Document Being Saved By Mail)/Info.plist", virus="", action="", info="Event occurred on a newly created file.", avstatus="not scanned"

There are over 1500 of these entries today alone. I don't mind syslog entries for important stuff, but this is quite pointless.

I have found relevant information in the following threads:

https://forum.eset.com/topic/2172-excessive-logging-in-varlogsystemlog-1092/

https://forum.eset.com/topic/2324-how-to-disable-systemlog-logging/

However, the solutions given don't work. I get a message "error[491e0000]: Cannot open file /Library/Application Support/ESET/esets/etc/esets.cfg: No such file or directory". I guess it's because those are from a few years ago and it's an older version. I can't find anywhere in settings to disable this either.

Running ESET Cyber Security Pro 6.5.600.1 on High Sierra.

Bump.

Still seeing thousands of these messages daily.

Does anyone from ESET read these posts? I figured that the issue may affect many users without them knowing, therefore posted here. But I can raise a support ticket instead, please advise.

Hello guys,

we were able to look into it internally.

The issue should be fixed in next major service release  i.e. version 6.7.X of the product.

Thank you for the issue report, P.R.
