Environment variable exclusions

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Does ESET support the full use of environment variables such as %appdata% and %userprofile% in its exclusions? Will all environs be resolved on the client?

Also is one directory level considered to use suffix "*.*" and all subfolders "*" ? Please clarify.

Thanks.

System variables will resolve but user variables not as they are not available in the context of the local system account in which ekrn.exe runs.

I would never exclude the folders for temporary files as this is a common location for malware. Not entirely sure but I assume that %temp% should resolve to %windir%\temp for processes running in the system account anyways.
