PF4Public 1
I do realize that it is really old, but nonetheless, does it supports updating from HTTPS mirror? I do have a mirror but 4.2 version refuses to update from it, given 'https://' url, it seems to update well over 'hxxp://' url. Is it that https not supported or is it TLS version mismatch, certificate authority unknown or whatever? TIA
Administrators Marcos 5,242 Posted March 15, 2018 Administrators Share Posted March 15, 2018 Updates from a mirror over https are supported only in new versions. If you mean ESET File Security v4 for Linux, a brand new version will be available later this year. If you mean Business Edition for endpoints, I'd strongly recommend upgrading to the latest version of Endpoint 6.6. V4.2 is too old and cannot provide sufficient protection against emerging threats. ESET Staff MichalJ 434 Posted March 16, 2018 ESET Staff Share Posted March 16, 2018 Can you please share details about the system, on which this legacy (EOL) version of the software is running? I am interested in knowing the hardware / OS details, to determine, if there is not a better alternative. As this software is really old, and despite being continuously updated by module updates, it can´t protect you against the latest types of cyber threats, as it lacks several critical protection layers, that were added in later generations (V5 / V6). So it´s really important to update, if possible.
PF4Public 1
Marcos, MichalJ, thank you for your replies. I will consider upgrading that particular system. As for the system specs. It is a fairly old laptop with Windows XP, but it does its job still. It had ESET NOD32 v2.7 for a long time until ESET no longer provided updates. Then it was version 3...
