govind_ind 2
Hello Everybody, Kaspersky advertises that its cloud detection (ksn) detects and responds to new threats inside the community in 40 seconds, and bitdefender's reaction is mentioned as 3 seconds (advertised in home page), we couldn't find a similar info regarding eset's live grid. Eager to know the reaction time of eset's live grid.. And is it practically possible to detect new malwares within the network within such a low duration of 3 seconds ? or is it just a marketing gimmick ? And does the number of participants in the network, eset(110 million) which is less when compared to Bitdefender (500 Million),Kaspersky (400 Million) and Avast (400 Million) impact the detection capabilities ? Administrators Marcos 5,274 Posted March 3, 2018 Administrators Share Posted March 3, 2018 We don't provide that info since it depends on many variables. I'd say they are just marketing numbers since sending suspicious files from users and running them on replicators to determine if they are malicious or not takes more than 40s or whatever. Also clients cannot ask cloud servers about every file since it would deteriorate performance if the system had to wait for a response. If cloud data was stored locally for improving performance, it would be impossible that millions of clients would be connecting to servers and downloading the data every minute or even less. Yes, it matters to some extent. The more users use a particular AV, the higher chance that some of them encounter malware that users of an AV with less users will never run into. On the other hand, we use various technologies at different layers to detect and block new malware. For more information, please read https://www.eset.com/int/about/technology/.
