For me the 1125 Anti-Stealth update added the WindowsCompatibilityLevel registry key, but I still do not see KB4074588.

Clean installs of EEA 6.6 seem to work fine, but computers with incrementally updated EEA installations fail to detect the Windows' update.

Clean instalation of EEA 6.6.2072.4 didn't help.

I was able to install all 02-2018 updates from WSUS server, not directly from Microsoft. But we have a lot of computers in smaller branch offices without WSUS.

Do you also have HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\QualityCompat\cadca5fe-87d3-4b96-b7fb-a231484277cc set to 0x00000000 ?

What Windows update you are unable to install if ESET is installed? It appears that "KB406892" is not a correct number.

Hello guys,

@howardagoldberg

The Antivirus and antispyware scanner module (do not confuse it with Detection engine module) is used for various purposes including such special tasks like setting the registry flag to signalize readiness for the patches. The second flag was set by the Ant-stealth module as this module contained also required fixes to be compatible with the new patches so i make sense to signalize the readiness as well,...

The only issues we are aware of is possible BSOD, when someone installs old ESET product (with an old installer) on updated system.

Users with installed version are O.K. as they received / will receive compatible Anti-stealth 1124.

Users downloading installers from the ESET web site are O.K. as well as we repacked the installation packages with the new modules to be compatible as well.

The generally do not contain other changes than modules / localization fixes, but this time it was an exception and it contains a new version of OppMonitor.dll (used in Banking and payment protection feature) which will allow us to upgrade it easily in the future and there are also changes allowing us to update eelam driver quickly,...

@Jani  / @all if you have a full memory dump from the crash you can send me a link to download via private message and I can check it

If i remember correctly the updates were not offered to me on the first attempt, but not sure.

Regards, P.R.

I can also confirm that as far as Win 10 x64 1709 and Eset IS 11.1.159, Win Update issues have been resolved.

FYI - it is no longer an Eset issue if you aren't receiving Win Updates:

Microsoft also mentioned that they have removed the anti-virus compatibility check for Windows 10 devices

  • 2 weeks later...

I think I found a hint why my Windows is not updating. It seems the key HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsUpdate\UpdatePolicy\PolicyState\BranchReadinessLevel is empty on the problematic computer whereas on my other Windows 10 computer, it contains a value "CB".

If I try to set it to CB manually, Windows just overwrites it with an empty value.

What values you guys have there?

Mine is set to CB on Win 10 1709. Suspect this is a Windows Update issue not related to Eset.

And your updates are working I presume.

Well, it probably is Microsoft's problem, but I still think ESET plays a role, because the only computers where I see this problem are the ones, which had ESET Endpoint AV installed when the Fall Creators Update (1709) came first out. All others are fine.

Okay, I finally figure this out. Here's the reason why the updates were not installing:
https://www.askwoody.com/2018/windows-10-enterprise-does-setting-telemetry-to-zero-disable-cumulative-updates/

So, my bad! The real correlation was early adopters of 1709 being more privacy minded instead of ESET being installed when FCU first came out.
