Enable detection of potentially unwanted applications?

I selected to enable PUP detections during setup but why is that setting not enabled by default? how is it different than the PUP detections? Is there any reason why I shouldn't enable it? like does it cause any OS slowdowns or have any adverse effects? since it's not enabled by default, this leaves me puzzled

The reasons are legal; the detection must be optional as the user must explicitly agree with detection.

Also it doesn't help that Eset uses the same acronym, PUA, to refer to Potentially Unsafe Applications and Potentially Unwanted Applications. Suggest Eset adopt the PUP acronym for the later.
