Administrators Marcos 5,461 Posted March 29, 2017 Administrators Posted March 29, 2017 Have you tried restarting your computer? If it doesn't resolve the issue, try repairing ESET. For more information, see http://support.eset.com/alert6383/.

Does temporarily disabling HIPS and restarting the computer make a difference? We'll need a Process Monitor log as well as logs from ESET Log Collector for analysis. For instructions how to generate them, see the links in my signature. When done, upload the logs to a safe location and pm me a download link.
tmuster2k 22 Posted April 3, 2017 Posted April 3, 2017 Just resolved this on my windows 8.1. machine. Go into advanced setup >> Web and Email >> Banking and Payment protection >> uncheck "integrate into system" and then OK. restart computer. Go back into advanced setup and re-enable "integrate into system" and ok. That should do it.
MichaelF 0 Posted April 3, 2017 Posted April 3, 2017 System Info: Computer name: TROUBADOUR2 Product name: ESET Smart Security Product version: 10.0.390.0 Operating system: Windows 7 Professional (64-bit) Machine: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2760QM CPU @ 2.40GHz I have 2 ESET Problems that have started recently after years of being stable and no changes in the system to cause the errors: First two warnings started appearing every hour saying: “User Rules file contains invalid data” There is no info on how to resolve the problem. I close the warnings and they go away but reappear an hour or so later, always two. Second I have the deadly error: Protected browser could not be started. Associated error code: 0x847695d0 I checked online and the suggested fix was to upgrade to the latest version of ESET which I did and the problem persisted. I have “repaired” the installation of the latest version of ESET and restarted the system and the problem has persisted. I have tried all the standard diagnostics including ESET Sysinspector and nothing is wrong with the system. It is only with the Chrome browser, not IE. I have tried the “integrate with system” fix posted to the forum today and it didn’t work. I have the EST Log and Process Monitor logs that Marcos requested from another user. Process Monitor is attached but the Log File is 10 MB which exceeds your 2MB limit. ProcessMonitor.zip
tmuster2k 22 Posted April 4, 2017 Posted April 4, 2017 The hips module appears to be corrupt. Follow hxxp://support.eset.com/kb2289/?locale=en_US to fully remove Eset. Confirm that ehdrv.sys does not exist after running tool. It resides in c:windows:system32:drivers. Also confirm no drivers starting with epfw. Delete these drivers if they exist. Confirm eset is gone from c:program files. Install eset again.
