Client does not show up in the ERA

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I have two identical computers, with identical configuration. One computer did show up in the ERA, the other did not.

I can telnet to my ERA server from this problematic computer... Gateway is also the same.

What might be the problem?

Thank you

I'd suggest checking the ERAS log to see if both clients attempt to connect or only the one which appears in ERAC. Do both clients use the very same ERAS settings?

Log:

[2013-10-16 15:12:34.975] V5 [525e82af2356] [000115e0] <SESSION_INFO> Kernel connection from 212.59.11.18:60933 closed (code 0, took 2s 996ms, name 'T0002', mac '00-0C-D6-10-EB-F5', product 'ESET Endpoint Security BUSINESS EDITION', product version '05.00000.02214', virus signature db version '8924 (20131016)')

As I understand computer connects to the server, but still is not listed.

And this is the one, which is listed:

[2013-10-16 15:12:11.147] V5 [525e829b2346] [000115e0] <SESSION_INFO> Kernel connection from 212.59.11.18:51980 closed (code 0, took 62ms, name 'T0001', mac '00-0C-D6-10-EC-0C', product 'ESET Endpoint Security BUSINESS EDITION', product version '05.00000.02214', virus signature db version '8924 (20131016)')

And what do you mean by saying "Do both clients use the very same ERAS settings?" ? There was used the same configuration file on both PC's.

Just found a reason... It is because I had the same computer name on the other computer.

It is possible to change that computers has to be detected not by the computer name, but by for example MAC address.?

Also, Found a workaround. Change computer name to "blablabla..", it appears on console, then rename client name on console, then change back computers name.

Is it possible to make it work without this workaround?

In ERAS Console open 'Server Options', go to 'Advanced', Click on 'Edit Advanced Settings', go to 'Advanced' and enable 'MAC address renaming (from unknown to valid)'.
