Hello to the ESET forum,

I am a computer enthusiast as a hobby.  I enjoy desktop computing to seek out information on a great number of items of curiosity.

I had been seeking out a new Internet security suite and had been researching ESET using the web and monitoring the forum here.

The past two AV vendors I have used I participated in their forums and have found forums to be a reliable gauge in how security software preforms and how the company takes care of its customers.

On the ESET forum, I have found very knowledgeable people with high levels of computer expertise. I am excited to continue to monitor and hopefully contribute as I learn more about ESET Internet security through its use.

I am new to ESET but I am very impressed with the software so far. It seems to be very easy to set up and ample configuration. I really like the banking and payment browser as well as the light weight effect overall the software has on the OS.

I have one windows 10 pro machine 1803 and one older lap-top running windows 10 home 1803  both running ESET internet security current version

I work as a mechanic/machinist (forklift) and enjoy bicycling

Glad to be here -- ebill

Welcome to the ESET Security Forum!  We are a widely diverse community of people and we’ve created this thread to allow you to introduce yourself to us and learn a little about who we are.

Please feel free to write a short post about you and also answer the questions below. When you’re done reading through this thread, check out our dedicated FAQ section and Help Files.

How did you find the ESET Security Forum?

What OS are you running?

What AV are you running?

What’s an interesting fact about you?

I'll start out. Hey everyone! I'm DWomack and I've been with ESET since 2009. I started out working in Customer Care-Home Support and last July became the first (and so far only) Online Community Specialist at ESET North America. I was part of the awesome team that helped create the forums and I'm excited about helping all our users and prospective users here and one all our social networks.

At home I have two main laptop I use running Win7 on one and Win8 on the other. I have ESS v6 running on the Win8 and I'm testing EAV v7 Beta on Win7.

Interesting fact, I am an out-of-practice musician (multiple instruments but mostly trumpet and guitar) and singer. I'm out of practice only in that I haven't picked up the trumpet in about 8 years and I don't pick up the guitar as much as I'd like to. Music is my soul and I'm hoping to get back into school studying music and performing again at some point.

I am a teacher (and as of recently, an IT administrator) at a small private school in the US.

I found the ESET Security forum while trying to reach a representative on Saturday.  Our Server runs Windows Server 2016, and our devices run anything from Windows 7 to Windows 10.  We initially purchased ESET Endpoint Antivirus (Basic), but have upgraded to ESET Endpoint Antivirus Advanced (or Premium, don't remember the exact wording).

I have no formal training in IT, and so am learning as I go.

I'm a semi-retired engineer with a background in telecommunications software development and project management. I've always had an interest in computer security and its related software, and have been through a large number of available solutions in the market. I've found that ESET is the most efficient in its resource usage as well as offering the best level of control while also operating with a minimum of intrusions compared to its competitors. Looking forward to gaining knowledge about ESET's products on this forum, and am excited about the 2019 version of ESET Internet Security which from what I read here is expected to be released shortly. ☺️

Hello and welcome to the Forum Bill_k. You'll find some very knowledgeable ESET Staff and forum members here. I find that ESET products are superior to their competition and the Customer Support (which includes this forum) to be very good and responsive.

Looking forward to seeing you here.;)

Best regards.

Hello Everyone.

My Name is Trish and I have used ESET Antivirus software in the past for almost 5 years when there was only Win XP available. Since the advent of Windows 7, 8 and 10, I now use Microsoft builtin Firewall only. My top interest here is to get acknowledged of the upgrades and fixes that are discussed in this community. Cheers. :)

Hello everyone ?

Found out about the forum when searching about a few things, like the line commands for NOD32 AV, or the Licence Management platform.

Running various Windows (from 7 to 10) on multiple devices, all using NOD32 AV (until recently), will be splitting them between the exposed ones (NOD32) and the less important ones (free AVs).

Been using ESET products for quite a while, after a few years running Kaspersky in the 2000s. After a while, I was looking for a less resource-intensive AV (with still decent live protection and on-demand scan detection rate) and eventually chose NOD32. So far, along with common sense and teaching good practices, I've been quite satisfied with the results: with 5+ end-users under my direct supervision, some of them frequently plugging some infected USB keys on their notebook (students...), I've managed to avoid any major data loss and only had to handle compromised systems a handful of times (= was able to ID the malwares involved, recover the valuable data, and of course wipe the disk for a fresh install, without too much troubles).

I really appreciate how ESET makes sure to keep the experience for the end-user rather seamless: even when nagging about Windows update or some settings, it's not annoying enough to send the users back to their admin all the freaking time, the UI strikes a good balance in my opinion.

I almost went for BitDefender recently, seeing they were having a big sales (more than 50% off) during the Cybersecurity awareness month, but looking up their latest updates (bloated client again, self-inflicted MITM, etc) really got me to reconsider this and simply renew one of my two licence at ESET.

Welcome to the Forum Kirov_Airline. We are glad you are here:). You can always find someone running a sale on ESET software (even direct from ESET), especially around Black Friday/Cyber Monday. I do not know what online vendors are available to you in France, but I am sure that are some.

Let me know if you know of a great cheese vendor in France (like Androuet in Paris) who will sell me some fine French cheese at cost and ship it to me here in the States (for free):P:D.

Best regards,

Tom
