Welcome to the ESET Security Forum!  We are a widely diverse community of people and we’ve created this thread to allow you to introduce yourself to us and learn a little about who we are.

Please feel free to write a short post about you and also answer the questions below. When you’re done reading through this thread, check out our dedicated FAQ section and Help Files.

How did you find the ESET Security Forum?

What OS are you running?

What AV are you running?

What’s an interesting fact about you?

I'll start out. Hey everyone! I'm DWomack and I've been with ESET since 2009. I started out working in Customer Care-Home Support and last July became the first (and so far only) Online Community Specialist at ESET North America. I was part of the awesome team that helped create the forums and I'm excited about helping all our users and prospective users here and one all our social networks.

At home I have two main laptop I use running Win7 on one and Win8 on the other. I have ESS v6 running on the Win8 and I'm testing EAV v7 Beta on Win7.

Interesting fact, I am an out-of-practice musician (multiple instruments but mostly trumpet and guitar) and singer. I'm out of practice only in that I haven't picked up the trumpet in about 8 years and I don't pick up the guitar as much as I'd like to. Music is my soul and I'm hoping to get back into school studying music and performing again at some point.

Hello,

I am Void and I am running on Windows XP.

I love computers. Mastered BASIC,C and currently learning C++. I am testing ESS7 on my laptop while my desktop computer is running ESS6.

I spend my spare time developing cheats for games such as Warcraft and Counter-Strike. I was a beta-tester for several games on Internet like Fantasy Rivals. I love reading virus descriptions on ESET Virus Radar website :)

My forum name will give you a BIG clue to my day job. I am a computer nut, all self-taught. I have 6 PCs and all multiboot at least 5 OSs - a mix of Windows versions and Linux Distros. ESET currently on all.

My motto is "if it still works, I haven't tweaked it enough".

I am also a licenced radio amateur and hold licences in two countries - England and Israel.

Hey all!

Was a long time ESET user back before ESS was created (NOD32 v2 days). Been away for a long time. Was checking the latest offerings from various companies and am immediately impressed with ESS.
Unless anything horrendous happens (which I highly doubt) in the beta, ESS 7 will be my standard security product. Expect I'll be active on these forums doing anything I can to help!

The questions:

How did you find the ESET Security Forum? - Saw the notice that it had opened over at the Wilders Security Forums.

What OS are you running? - Windows 7 Pro X64

What AV are you running? - ESS 7.0.140.0 (BETA)

What’s an interesting fact about you? - Lost 50% body-weight in the last year!

That's about it, for now!  :D

Good day my IT friends !

My name is Ryan and i have been working in the IT industry since i was 14 & teaching myself how to program with BASIC and familiarizing myself with the internet on my first computer. A Gateway lol.

I am 30 and love anything and everything that has to do with computers.

I started off learning how to repair iPods when the 2ng generation was created. I moved into iPhones and iPads and started teardowns the moment smart phones were booming.

My first you tube video can be located by searching "ipad teardown" Its the only one with a tat on my finger ! iPad 1st gen.

I moved into corporate environment as a network administrator after school and certifications; working for Citibank. I have also provided network support for a United Health Group subsidiary.

I love helping people with computer issues and my first break into this sort of assistance was at ww w.overclock.net. Same Username.

I have not been involved in forums for years because i was unable to find a new community in which to become acquainted.

I run a self built EVGA 780i - 995 socket with a qx9650 oc'ed to 4.1 *love to game!!

I refuse to take the plunge into windows 8 and will stick with my 64bit 7 version until i see change from tablet back to desktop which i believe corporations and business will always have a need for.

How did you find the ESET Security Forum? - I learned of the new forums from the Beta invitation !

What OS are you running? Windows 7 Home Prem 64bit

What AV are you running? Eset 7 AV only

What’s an interesting fact(s) about you? I am a musician and have studied percussion all my life. I love to program with basic and c++. I am a dedicated overclocker of anything that has open bus alterations :)

Feel free to drop me a line anytime. I am outgoing and love to discuss computers. I take criticism well, so don't hesitate to correct me if i am i incorrectly informative or with a misunderstanding.

Thanks and glad to be a member of these Security forums. I hope i can learn a lot from the community.

I am a Professor Emeritus at San Jose State University, San Jose, California USA.  I am retired from teaching, but not from being an economist.

I have been using NOD32 for about ten years, starting with version 2.something.

My current project is setting up a new Win7sp1 64-bit Dell Precision M4700 laptop, as a replacement for my somewhat ancient Dell Latitude C840, which originally ran 32-bit Win2ksp4 and now runs 32-bit WinXPsp3.  It uses NOD32 v5.2.15.0.

On the assumption that I'm now supposed to get information and help here rather than at Wilders, I wandered around this Eset Security Forum, but didn't find someplace where I could start a new thread to ask some questions.  So I will take the liberty of doing that here.

A few minutes ago, from Eset's website (hxxp://www.eset.com/us/download/thank-you-eav/file/8651/) I downloaded an offline Eset NOD32 v6.something.  Its title is eav_nt64_enu.msi and its size is 55.5 MB (58,256,384 bytes).

Given the weird title (although I am used to .msi installation files), I am not completely confident that I downloaded the offline 64-bit version.  (The 64 in nt64 probably means 64-bit, but "64-bit" or "64bit" would have been more comforting.)

If anyone reading this can confirm that my download is what I want (NOD32 v6.x appropriate for 64-bit Win7sp1), I would very much appreciate getting that information before I install eav_nt64_enu.msi.

Thanks for any comments, suggestions, help, or a confirmation!

After posting my post, I realized that the reason that I couldn't find places to ask questions is that I moved my cursor horizontally but not vertically.  It's been a long day for me, so I apparently was suffering brain fatigue.

Neverheless, despite my dumb mistake, I would appreciate any response to my post.

I believe you have the link for 64bit compatible with win764bit. Yes

I have the same installer on my machine, with difference mine is the 7beta nod32av 64bit for win 7 64bit.

Hi and Welcome Folsom !

Hi and Welcome Folsom !

Arakasi:  Thanks for confirming that I did download the software that I intended.  So I will install it tomorrow (after using Acronis Western Digital version to back up my C: and D: partitions).

And thanks for the welcome!

And to TomFace:  Thanks to you also for the welcome!

Hello, Nodders (if I may call you like that :) ), I am Senzorei, interested in viruses, gaming, hardware and programming.

How did you find the ESET Security Forum? I came here to request that you add GuardMailRu.exe and associated processes to potentially unwanted programs or adware classification since it modifies IE, Firefox, Opera and possibly other browsers (toolbar). I will get into detail in another post.

What OS are you running? Windows 7 Ultimate x64 Service Pack 1.

What AV are you running? ESET NOD 4.

What’s an interesting fact about you? I am only 12.

Hello!

My name is Bambi/LilBambi. I have love ESET products for a long time and recommend them to folks for their devices and computers wherever folks are looking for a great pay to play antivirus.

How did you find the ESET Security Forum? Temmu

What OS are you running? Linux, Mac, and Windows; Android, iOS

What AV are you running? Depends; I use ESET products for most of my computers and devices (except my iOS device sadly). However, I also use Windows Security Essentials on at least one Windows computer.

What’s an interesting fact about you? I admin on SNF and have my own small computer business.
