COStark26 10
I've just noticed the Setup Red Block w/"3" and the resulting (Non-Functioning) Network Protection issues. V10 installed weeks ago & this is brand new. I'm ethernet cable wire-lined from my desktop to an AT&T Uverse Gateway box & have no clue what ESET considers a Network for the purpose of this Red Alert (ie) AT&T's "network" Vs. a Router bought from Best Buy serving 3 computers in my home (desktop is only device). Home Screen states "You Are Protected" - BUT - since this Setup Red Alert JUST happened, I'm forced to ask what this means. Many Thanks! Administrators Marcos 5,243 Posted November 21, 2016 Administrators Share Posted November 21, 2016 Was this an upgrade from an older version to v10? If so, have you tried uninstalling ESS v10 and installing it from scratch? If that doesn't help, try running the ESET Uninstall tool in safe mode to make sure that it's completely removed. Hi, Marcos. Uninstalled latest V9 per Start/ All Programs /ESET/ Uninstall. It's been fine for 7 weeks and this just showed up. EDIT 11/21/16 7:17 p.m. CST: Uninstalled V10 via Start and Setup is all Green now; Initial Scan after Install in progress. Will try Uninstalls in future when something like this occurs; My problem is ESET never causes me issues so I get little practice trouble-shooting. Thanks! COStark26 10
The Same Issue has returned and I obviously cannot keep Uninstalling / Reinstalling V10. See Error screen in post #1 ............ V9 was originally Uninstalled via Start/ All Programs/ ESET and V10 then Inst'd ; then V10 Uninstalled / Re-Installed 11/21 per Marcos with no issues noted until today .......... Any suggestions are appreciated. Edited December 2, 2016 by COStark26
itman 1,743
You need to explain your network config. a bit more. First, you state that your desktop is a direct Ethernet connection to the Uverse gateway. Then you state the same desktop is connected to a router you bought from Best Buy. This implies you're doing a passthrough from the gateway to the router. So which config. is it?
Administrators Marcos 5,243 Posted December 2, 2016 Administrators Share Posted December 2, 2016 When the issue occurs, collect log with ESET Log Collector and convey it to me either as an attachment in a pm or a download link, if the output zip file is too large. Marcos,I just ran the Collector and am sending it as Attachment 12/2. On 12/3 (Sat. morning here) I Uninstalled V10 via Start/ All Programs and Re-Installed. I will watch Setup daily IN CASE the data I sent you is Too Old in relation to the unknown date this problem returned and send a fresh Collector Log IF required. I stated ["have no clue what ESET considers a Network for the purpose of this Red Alert] and I used the examples of AT&T network OR a Home Network via a router bought from Best Buy. I'm not of high expertise & not sure what some ESET module names really mean, hence my statement. Thanks for the Reply!! Administrators Marcos 5,243 Posted December 3, 2016 Administrators Share Posted December 3, 2016 The output zip file from ESET Log Collector was not attached to your PM. You wrote "there is No way to know when a it OR repeat occurs unless I watch the module every hour daily" but actually you don't have to watch it every hour; if a problem occurs, protection status will change to red, ie. the icon in the system tray will change to red too and a bubble notification will pop up. I DID see the File Too Big this time (2099 kb vs. 2 MB limit). Any way to trick the Limit by 99 kb? I've Uploaded once in my life and forgotten How. Can you steer me to a method Help screen? I don't recall a Red Sys Tray Icon OR Popups WHEN the Red Alert for Network Protection is noted but maybe I missed it. Let's say I'll check X times daily & send another Log when the Red Alert is Next Noted / after Reinstall the Setup/ Network Protection is Green now. Pls advise How to Upload. Many Thanks! Administrators Marcos 5,243 Posted December 6, 2016 Administrators Share Posted December 6, 2016 You can upload the output from ESET Log Collector to OneDrive, Dropbox, etc. and pm me a download link.

I'll Google how to do that and send a Log when the Problem repeats itself.
COStark26 10
12/6/16 Marcos: 1.9 MB Log Collector zip File just attached to Message to you. There was No Red System Tray Icon OR Popup as a warning - Checking often wasn't as big a deal as it sounded. Advise what to do next. Thanks! COStark26 10
EDIT: 12/19/16 --- The Red Alert in Network Protection has Not returned since 12/8. Will consider the matter Solved. FYI The Network Protection Red Alert for 3 non-functioning members that appeared on Day 2 of my New ( & 3rd ) V10 Install has Disappeared. All I know to do is keep checking to confirm if it is a Here - Gone - Here again process. A repeat of last time ........... the Setup/Network Protection Link is Green Vs Red now but I'd appreciate your looking at the Log Collector as there is No way to know IF this Red Alert will ever Stop randomly occurring or that the Protection will always return. COStark26 10
Marcos, it's that time again where the (3) Red Network Modules show-up, and My Telling you about it always makes it disappear when it wouldn't otherwise. Dropbox Link will be sent in PM (2.16 MB .zip exceeds attachment limit) as soon as I post this. Malwarebytes 3 is newest Update from V2 but it's been fine for a month and no ESET issue til 2 days ago. Will advise if this post makes it disappear. Thanks! COStark26 10
EDIT : Uninstall / FIX choice appears to be a mini-Re-install and that worked. I'll never know WHY this happens so I'm resolved to just try a Fix from here on out and won't post unless that and an Uninstall / Re-install all fail.. I have submitted my first Ticket to Support with a .ZIP LOG. 11/21/16, 12/2/16, 1/25/17, 5/26/17, 6/23/17. Even though a Version Update cleared the last one I'd like to know WHY this happens. Will report IF I get any solution. Edited June 25, 2017 by COStark26
