chensong 0 Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 Dear all; I am facing a serious issue; ESET Smart Security is unable to update virus database but it claims up-to-date (automatic update). OS: Windows 10 V1607 Software: ESET Smart Security V10.0.369.1 (I believe this is the latest version) I tried to update manually but couldn’t find any links for downloading the virus database. Please help and thanks very much in ahead! Please check attached pictures, sorry for the UI is in Chinese, as the red arrow indicates the version information and virus database info.
RyanTsai 3 Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 Do you get any errors when pressing "Update" ? In any case try go to Settings - Advanced Settings - Update - Clear Update Cache, press update again and see if it updates successfully, if not try a re-install. ESET does not provide offline virus DB downloads.
chensong 0 Posted November 17, 2016 Author Posted November 17, 2016 Tried all methods, still cannot update. It says up-to-date. The same even reinstall.
RyanTsai 3 Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 Try using the steps here to uninstall in safe mode then re-install: hxxp://support.eset.com/kb2289/?viewlocale=en_US
chensong 0 Posted November 18, 2016 Author Posted November 18, 2016 Had problems in safe mode, every time when enter safe mode there will be a blue screen, and tried roll-back or uninstall, nothing works.
hazardass 3 Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 same problem with update, my last update was from 2016-11-13 and ever since then the Update screen says that virus signature database is UP TO DATE, but the Home screen says databse is OUT OF DATE.
Administrators Marcos 5,462 Posted December 1, 2016 Administrators Posted December 1, 2016 Those who are having this issue carry on as follows: 1, Open the command-line console (cmd.exe) with administrator rights. 2. Enter (copy&paste): logman start updater -p {f329ae9a-556d-4934-920f-234e835d9ece} 0xffffff 10 -o C:\eset.etl -ets 3, Run manual update 4, Enter the following command in the console to stop logging: logman stop updater -ets Drop me a pm with the log c:\eset.etl attached. Also I'd recommend enclosing the output from ESET Log Collector.
bk71 0 Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 Hi, I'm having a similar problem. Mine shows out of date. Last successful update was 45 days ago. Unable to update. I don't know what "Open the command-line console (cmd.exe) with administrator rights" means. I also cannot figure out how to submit a Support Request. Unable to do much as it keeps asking for a password, which I've never set up. Really frustrating. Please help. Windows 10 Pro, 64 bit Eset Smart Security 9
