  1. Hi, I'm in the process of evaluating ESET Smart Security (switching from Symantec/Norton) and the only problem so far I have with the ESET product is that now I'm getting pop-up ads all over my screen. I didn't have that problem with Norton Internet Security as it blocked pop ups from the get-go while surfing?. I'm new to the product and I'm liking what I see, but these pop-up ads are killing me. Any light that can be shed will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  2. I tried to load this antivirus program to resolve a virus issue I recently encountered via my email. Anyway, it seemed to download just fine but failed to initialize and instructed me to download the offline version. Well, when I tried this my system failed to reboot in safe-mode. Help?
  3. Hello, I have nod32 v7. Today, I wanted to download the free new Ccleaner 4.10 from Piriform, ccsetup410.exe". Nod32 says it is a potentially dangerous program because there is a g**gle Toolbar in the installer. No warning was given In the previous versions of nod32. So did Eset change something in its V7 detection? Or does Piriform use a new trick for its toolbar ? Previous versions of ccleaner also had this toolbar and let the user to install it or not.
  4. Good evening my friends, I have recently seen an abundance of questions regarding the usage of Malwarebytes and ESET together. The old history of IT world has always been, never run two Antivirus software together. The two big points regarding this are 1. Your system will slow down due to large amounts of resources given to protection software. 2. Its possible that real time scanning of the two might cause system halts landing on the same file or preventing execution together. Some of the general pop. have experienced some concern with Malwarebytes possibly finding remnants or certain objects that ESET skipped or has not been added to their database. In my personal opinion of this, and i alone in this theory would like to answer with the possibility that Malwarebytes might have a larger index of Potentially Unwanted Applications then ESET, coupled with the strong registry object scans that Malwarebytes uses; and its a recipe for cleaning and not so much on the side of a payload file or main executable and/or service that is wreaking havoc. In my observations of finding 14 threats all with similar names and titles, Malwarebytes cleans and removes all files associated with the malware, including the registry entries corresponding. I would like to share the following link for cleaning up Unwanted Software that ESET might not find, or decided was not software they felt made it into the blacklist of the VSD's. Malware Removal Guides and Self Help Guides On ESET's behalf i do feel that their database for Potentially Unwanted Applications is growing everyday. The main reason for this guide is to make known that Malwarebytes is an Anti-Malware software solution, that covers a broad area of software that may potentially cause your computer harm, however it is not a Security Software nor an Antivirus solution that could be considered the only protection you use. The company has stated numerous times that its a solution that was built to be installed and ran along side your security protection. ESET - Antivirus / Security software suite Malwarebytes - Antimalware software I would like to also include wiki's list of Antivirus software. Malwarebytes is not included in the list, and i can only speculate why its not. List of Antivirus protection. As short and sweet as i can be, i don't run ESET without MBAM, and i would not run MBAM without ESET either. They work together great for what we call layered protection. Although Malwarebytes doesnt have a few things ESET has like Anti-phishing, or Rootkit detection they do still research and attempt preventative measures. They have an Anti Exploit program. A rootkit program. A Blog page similar to WeLiveSecurity. Online Backup Solutions They also have Endpoint and Enterprise Business platforms too. Now for the comparison chart, which is aimed at Only the Home version of Nod32 vs Malwarebytes Free Smart Security vs Malwarebytes PRO The differences are from what i know publicly and what is built into the apps alone. Any corrections that should or need to be made will be made just PM me. This is simply to suggest it would not be a great idea to dismiss ESET and expect the same amount of protection without it. ______________________________________________________________________________________________ Computer Protection Comparison Chart Windows Operating Systems ESET – Security & Antivirus Software- (est. 1992): ESET's first product was NOD, an antivirus software for computers running msdos. In 1998, ESET introduced NOD32 1.0 for Windows, with version 2.0 following in 2003. It is now 2014 and ESET continues to provide protection in a number of environments including mobile and social. ESET has everything from firewall protection to server and gateway protection. Parental controls, cloud and live-grid protection, even OSX protection. ESET should be categorized as a Security company with security software, not antivirus protection alone. Malwarebytes – Anti-malware Software- (est. 2004): MBAM claims to find malware that many other anti-virus and anti-spyware programs miss, including rogue security software, adware , and spyware. MBAM scans in batch mode, rather than scanning all files opened, reducing interference if on-demand anti-virus software is also running on the computer. The paid version can perform scheduled scans, automatically scan files when opened, block IP addresses of malicious web sites, and quickly scan only open services, programs and device drivers. Malwarebytes is categorized as an anti-malware software alone.
  5. Hi all, Where does ESET RA server download virus signature updates? Our server tries to connect to tsm02.eset.com domain (, over HTTP, but snort identifies these connection as a malware-cnc RAT update. We tried to investigate the cause of that problem, and found some suspicious things in the HTTP post data. There is possible bot update command: hxxp://fast.onoodor.com:443/update?id=ff64a2f9 in post data. Anyone know about this? Regards, Altangerel
  6. We have 150 workstations. Over the course of the last two weeks Eset Endpoint has detected, in the operating memory, a variant of win32/urlbot.nao trojan on 22 different machines. Eset cannot clean or delete the files. When we do a full scan with Eset after the message, no objects are infected. Eset does appear to be quarantining files from the windows\system32 and office directories. This infection is spreading. Any help would be appreciated.
  7. Hi, I recieved to alerts yesterday in the RAS console because the electronic filter module in Outlook warned about an email with subject: IMPORTANT and Documents - WellsFargo de la fecha Thu, 26 Sep 2013 14:02:57 +0800 contains Win32/Spy.Zbot.AAU troyano. This appeared two times in different machines, in the second machine was another type of malware Win32/TrojanDownloader.Small.AAB which was updated yesterday by ESET. After that, the MS Office 2003 began to fail with different behaviour missprinting or shutting down. I have to run CCleaner and the infection was removed, also it was quarantined in ESET Endpoint Antivirus. Is this a problem of lacking of security windows patches or the Outlook Express program itself. Best regards

  12. Hi, My name is David Jones I have been trying for over 1 year to get the WhiteSmoke software approved with ESET as it is a False Postive, I have emailed the labs many times with everything they require but never seem to get any answer. I have scanned the software on Virustotal.com https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/f57a29cfe6bcc76cacc36916a4d7f1a6feeba772026627afdd8e010f828e82d8/analysis/1369692107/ It comes up with only ESET as blocking it, Please can the software be approved as ESET has blocked the application servers and website. I can assure you we are trusted company (Etruste) and there is no virus or anything that is installed without the users permission. i do understand this might not be the right place to post this but I plead with ESET to give us an answer on anything we can do to get this unblocked. Please let me know if you require anything. I really hope we can move forward as I know ESET is a trusted name in the Anti Virus industry. Many thanks David Jones
