  1. Just upgraded from Win 7 to Win 10. I've got ESET Smart Security 9. My issue is that native MS programs such as Edge browser, Store, Skype and Search (internet, not local) is not connected to internet. My PC has ethernet cable connection to the router. Programs like Firefox and ESET (e.g. update virus database) works just fine, i.e. the PC does have internet access. Solution: Disable "Personal Firewall" in ESET. So, for me to use Edge, Store, Skype or Search (internet) I have to disable ESET firewall and activate Windows firewall. Anyone seen the same?
  2. Now that there's been a sufficient amount of exposure about Windows 10 sending information back to Microsoft (even when the user has adjusted the privacy controls), I'm wondering if this is where Eset will be able to shine. In other words, does Eset flag via popup alerts any of the surreptitious transfers of information Windows 10 performs---and if so, what should we be looking for as they're detected and brought to our attention? Has anyone started listing them somewhere? Thanks, in advance! --Timothy Kline
  3. Hi guys, I've seen a lot of threads mention this error 'Error initializing personal firewall' & just wanted to start my own thread re my issues with pc's having this problem... Seeing a firewall problem on 2 pc's, both running Win10 64-bit... 1st pc: Upgraded a month ago from win8.1 to Win10; it had ESS v.8 running without any issues but I chose to upgrade to ESS v.9. when it rebooted it gave the error 'Personal firewall has stopped working'; I ran the un-installer in Safe Mode & re-installed ESS v.8 which has worked successfully since then without any issues, so I'm reluctant to go to v.9 & will leave it for the time being This pc was fully patched prior to & after the Windows upgrade, everything else is working on it 2nd pc: Has had no AV installed but had been scanned clean of viruses Was Win8.1 fully patched, upgraded to Win10 then windows updates done again Installed ESS v.8 & after reboot it gave the error 'Error initializing personal firewall' Not sure whether to try installing v.9 or not? Thanks in advance. Jtk
  4. Good afternoon, I have a Remote Administrator installation and have successfully deployed the agent and client to most computers successfully. One issue I have encountered is that almost all computers show as yellow in the RA with the following error "The feature is not monitored by Windows Security Center" listed as the worst functionality problem when in the details window of a computer. See the attached file. I can't figure out how to either ignore this error or correct it. I think it has something to do with the firewall as per the 2nd screen shot. Any help with this would be much appreciated. Thank you CW
  5. How to fix " Personal firewall is not functional" Windows 10 Pro Smart Security 9 Beta Help me please .
  6. Hi all ! I've just downloaded Eset Cyber Security Pro for my mac and I need help to configure the firewall. (I used to have Icefloor) First question is : do I have to disable built-in os x firewall so as to make eset firewall work correctly ? Second question : How do i setup the firewall so as to NO OUTBOUND connexions could escape from my real IP address (192.168.0.0/24) to the internet. I have setup two zones : - one for the en0 adapter which load several rules : allow in/out for OpenVPN connect (my VPN app) TCP/UDP, allow in/out for openvpn process in TCP/UDP and allow local network. Also Checked DNS. So while only connected to Wifi, internet doesn't work but i can connect to my VPN which is what I wanted. - one for the tun0 adapter which loads basic home rules when my VPN is ON. This should be ok because if my VPN drops then ESET switch to en0 zone and load the profile that only allow connection to my VPN. The problem is that while analyzing network trafic with ice floor PF states (and while VPN connected) i noticed some established connexion between my real IP (192.168.0.0/24) and internet. Which basically means that some trafic is not in the tunnel. I know with ice floor i could put custom rules like "block drop out quick inet proto tcp from 192.168.0.0/24 to any" and same for udp. I don't how I can do that with eset firewall : I can only says to the firewall "don't connect to that ip" but not "don't connect from that IP". Does anyone knows how I could deal with that problem ? Thanks
  7. Hi Eset Team. How to extend firewall learning mode 14 days to more? Regards Anand Mavani
  8. Hi everyone, I live in an apartment with everyone sharing a NBN network and suddenly my laptop showed warning messages "Duplicate IP Addresses & Dected ARP cache poisoning attack". When the instruction asked me to unblocked it....I did so. Now, I am worried that this feature which Detects ARP cache poisoning attack and Duplicate IP address is turned off permanently. Can you tell me how to turn it back on so my laptop is protected from eavesdropping please? I use a Windows 7 and Smart Security 8 as well as Malwarebyte free version. Thank you very much for your help.
  9. After following the steps in hxxp://kb.eset.com/esetkb/index?page=content&id=SOLN3747prior upgrading to the Win 10. After upgraded to Win 10, Windows download and install new update on their Windows Defender. After that, ESET Endpoint Security failed to load successfully. The Fireware, IDS and Botnet Protection become non-functional. Web Access Protection also non-functional resulting Anti-Phising not working. Tried to repair the installation, removed and reinstall but still fail.
  10. Hello, I would like to know which windows processes and their ports are secure. Today I opened the Zone & Rule Editor and there were way too many entries, some programs that are no longer installed, duplicates, etc. So I cleaned up the list and set up Zones and Rules for my browsers, mail client and various programs. My firewall is in interactive mode, thus ESS reports any new/unknown communication. So far the only process I have been asked for while browsing is SVCHOST Since this is a very generic service that includes many processes and protocols I don't exactly know to deal with it. Many users in other forums wrote that this process should be given full permission on anything. I am not sure about that, so this is how I set it up: Application: C:\Windows\System32\svchost.exe (Host Process for Windows Services) Allow: Out TCP&UDP Local Ports: 80 (HTTP), 443 (HTTPs) Now my questions: 1. how should I set up the rule for svchost.exe 2. what other processes are safe to allow and how should they be set up (direction, ports, etc.) Thank you in advance kind regards Pete
  11. For the past week, my Eset Smart Security (version 8.0.312.0) has been blocking these two sites even though I did not visit them. They showed up at the bottom right hand side of my screen, "Address has been blocked". Please see the links below: Initially, this one is blocked: hxxp://cache-download.real.com/free/windows/installer/upgradehelper/xml/v11/rp17/stubinst_config_en.xml And now, this is blocked instead: hxxp://cache-download.real.com/free/windows/installer/upgradehelper/xml/v14/rt1/stubinst_config_en.xml?prod=RealPlayer&ver=18.0&distcode=T10ENUH06&loc=au&li=en&oem=rt1_en_us I also experience the same thing when I tried to do a Windows Update. I use Windows 7. Ran in-depth scan twice and no virus was detected. I also ran free version of Malwarebyte and again no threat was found. May I know do the above links pose any threat to my laptop? Are they virus? Why Eset is blocking them? How could I update my Windows then? I am also experiencing problem with my Word document. Sporadic scrambled sentences appear after I make changes, save and open the file. I am not entirely certain whether these two issues are interrelated. Could someone please help me solve these problems? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you. I use Windows 7
  12. The upgrade to Windows 10 has been complete hell so far. ESET's firewall will not load. I says ESET needs to be reinstalled due to probable corruption, yet I can't reinstall. I can't uninstall. I get a message saying "Service 'ESET Service' (ekrn) could not be stopped. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to stop system services." I can't kill the beast with Windows Task Manager. I have no firewall active. Help!
  13. Hi, is there a way to block all internet access, with eset's firewall, but allowing, lets say, google chrome to connect properly? I am currently using a tight 3G data plan as my current internet, and i am trying to conserve it as much as i can... Thanks in advance for your help!!
  14. Was interesesting in making use of the personal firewall to enter a list of IP address's much like you can with peerblock. Did it through the Rules and zones and entered some remote ip address's. Set it to notify user if it is fired off. And I can see the new rules in the "rules with no application assigned" But it neither fires off a notification nor is the IP blocked. I have tried single ip address's and using a netmask. Seems to have no effect. I setup the ip address's in the "remote' tab. I see if you are in interactive mode, and create rules through it asking you. it seems to work. but not if you manually enter your own ip address's I have set deny both directions, and TCP/UDP. I have even assigned a rule to an app I know tries to talk out.
  15. Windows 10 comes with an insane service agreement that states; Will Eset's firewall be able to prevent remote access by Microsoft and its 'technology partners'? Is Eset aware of any code or function made by Microsoft which can and will prevent 3rd party security vendors from thouroughly securing their computers?
  16. Hi, I'm playing League of Legends (LoL) and using Smart Security in interactive mode. I have had Nod32 for decades now. LoL has a really annoying application directory that changes along their updates i.e: C:\Riot\League of Legends\RADS\solutions\lol_game_client_sln\releases\0.0.1.95\deploy In the firewall exceptions I can only set the exception based on the application and not the root directory or a regular expression that would be really convenient here. Am I missing something? Right now I can only add the exception until next patch but it will trigger 3 popups. 2 at startup and 1 at game begining which if I fail to configure quick enough will drop my game or freeze it. Many thanks
  17. Most of long time users of Firewall included ESET Products know this bug. I got it again on just freshly installed W81 HP Notebook, almost no software, no HP crapware. After few days of usage of EES latest version BUG saluted me "HI dear friend, I never die, I am eternal!!!". So let me ask, is writing simple flat table of rules as complex task? Sincerely long time Eset partner, more and more sad....
  18. Hello Support I have a program called "REMOTE MOUSE" after I installed Eset Smart Security 8 it stopped working. Its a program that lets you control your mouse from a smartphone. (homepage: https://www.remotemouse.net/faq.php)You need the app on your smartphone, and a program on that computer you want to control mouse on. It uses TCP 1978 port, and I tried to open that port in firewall, but it still dont work. It only works if I disable firewall. How can I get it to work while my firewall is running? Can you guys guide me? or fix this? Thanks in advance SamseDK
  19. I can't get steam to work since the update. I've tried adding it to the rules but it still won't run. I'm kinda at a loss what else I can try. Running ESEST 8.0.312.4 on windows 7
  20. Hi, We use a windows based softphone called 3CX Phone for Windows at the office. I've recently changed malware protection on a Windows 8.1 laptop to Eset Smart Security V8. Since doing so the 3CX Phone program can no longer communicate with the 3CX phone system. To date I have tried the following: 1. Added the program's folder to the Realtime scanning exclusion list 2. Turned off/disabled every single Eset module in its Setup section. This had no effect, even after a reboot. 3. Uninstalled Eset. After doing so and performing a reboot the 3CX Phone program worked fine. I reinstalled Eset, and now the problem is back. Does anyone know what needs doing to the Eset security suite to resolve this issue? Thanks, Adriaan
  21. I need to block communication with one IP address (especially SMB). But simply blocking all communication with this particular IP will suffice. I have created the rule prohibiting all UDP and TCP communication with this IP, but the rule has no effect. PC, which I need an access to be restricted to, is still completely accessible from that remote IP. Strangely, ICMP blocking, which I used for testing, works correctly. Any advice is appreciated.
  22. After I install and activate the parental control Eset Smart Security 8, began my problems with internet connection in the application Google Drive, I disabled the Firewall, the same parental control, restarted my computer again and again, but not no way to reconnect the application.. Please I need help with this problem.
  23. Blizzards games are updated frequently, with every new version getting it's new directory, for example: H:\games\Battle.net\Battle.net.4269\Battle.net.exe C:\ProgramData\Battle.net\Agent\Agent.beta.2737\Agent.exe as you can imagine, this popups dialogs asking whetever permit or deny change to file / network connections. Is there some way I could allow the games more... universaly? either by directory H:\games\Battle.net\* C:\ProgramData\Battle.net\Agent\* or with regular expression H:\games\Battle.net\Battle.net.[0-9]*\Battle.net.exe C:\ProgramData\Battle.net\Agent\Agent.beta.[0-9]*\Agent.exe or anything else?
