  1. I have set up a scheduled task to run daily at 12:00 on a specific EES v6.2 Client running Windows 10 only to find that it actually runs at 20:00. My timezone is GMT+8. Is there something I need to set to get this to run correctly or is this a bug? I can set the task to 04:00 and it will run at the correct time but this doesn't seem especially logical. Thanks
  2. Put Eset SS 9 for a test drive on one of my Windows 10 laptops with Office 16 click to run and visua studio installed. SS9 installed without issue. I then had a problem with the click to run office not wanting to update and VS 2015 installer hanging if I did a repair or changed features. In both cases the installer would just and not complete. I had to kill the process. Has this been an issue? I have used Eset products for years w/o much problem
  3. Hi guys, I've seen a lot of threads mention this error 'Error initializing personal firewall' & just wanted to start my own thread re my issues with pc's having this problem... Seeing a firewall problem on 2 pc's, both running Win10 64-bit... 1st pc: Upgraded a month ago from win8.1 to Win10; it had ESS v.8 running without any issues but I chose to upgrade to ESS v.9. when it rebooted it gave the error 'Personal firewall has stopped working'; I ran the un-installer in Safe Mode & re-installed ESS v.8 which has worked successfully since then without any issues, so I'm reluctant to go to v.9 & will leave it for the time being This pc was fully patched prior to & after the Windows upgrade, everything else is working on it 2nd pc: Has had no AV installed but had been scanned clean of viruses Was Win8.1 fully patched, upgraded to Win10 then windows updates done again Installed ESS v.8 & after reboot it gave the error 'Error initializing personal firewall' Not sure whether to try installing v.9 or not? Thanks in advance. Jtk
  4. Sorry if this issue has been covered before but a quick search showed nothing:- I am using Smart Security on a Windows 10 Home machine (Upgraded from Windows 8.1 Home) and have a unknown user on my machine, this user is called "ghhmtqua". I have scanned for Virus, maleware and spyware using a number of tools not just ESET's, I have deleted and disabled this user using console commands and the control panel but guess what it keeps coming back. Doing some general reading there are a lot of fingers pionting to ESET Smart Security creating this account, could someone confirm this and explain it's reason. Other then that I love ESET products but I bought my wife a laptop (Windws 10 Home upgraded from Windows 8.1) and have left it with just Microsoft's Defender for now. Thank you.
  5. I've recently installed v9, and can't turn off the notifications that Anti-Theft is not optimized. I do not want to use this feature, and the yellow warning is annoying, and not user friendly. I have turned off Anti-theft in security tools, and the anti-theft warning in advanced setup, to no avail.
  6. after I istall esm 9. An error every 5 minutes appears : "A fatal error occurred when attempting to access the SSL server credential private key. The error code returned from the cryptographic module is 0x8009030D. The internal error state is 10001." How can I fix it? Thanks!
  7. How to fix " Personal firewall is not functional" Windows 10 Pro Smart Security 9 Beta Help me please .
  8. Hello, I am getting daily notifications in Windows 10 that states "ESET needs action from you" (note not the exact message text). When I open ESET, there are no issues. This seems to occur following an update of virus signatures. Is anyone else having this issue? Any suggestions or should I just ignore? Thanks.

  10. After following the steps in hxxp://kb.eset.com/esetkb/index?page=content&id=SOLN3747prior upgrading to the Win 10. After upgraded to Win 10, Windows download and install new update on their Windows Defender. After that, ESET Endpoint Security failed to load successfully. The Fireware, IDS and Botnet Protection become non-functional. Web Access Protection also non-functional resulting Anti-Phising not working. Tried to repair the installation, removed and reinstall but still fail.
  11. Hello everyone, like many of you I recently installed the Windows 10 system and it is then that I learned that there were a number of privacy concerns for users. I have not linked the installation to a Microsoft account and I made the choice not my installation related to online services, and Microsoft's cloud, and on top of that I decided to block a list of url in the hosts file to prevent my PC sniffing information to Microsoft servers. I also read some news sites, such arstechnica.com, no matter our installation options or the contents of the hosts file, Windows 10 does not include fee and in all cases gets informations on user. I do not know yet if this is true, and no matter, I want me to take control of my data and I want to block the comunication between my system and Microsoft servers from my list, known for gathering information. I would do with my firewall ESET Smart Security. I found how to block access to xx.xxx.xx.xxx IP addresses, but I do not know how to enter a url list to block access in 2 directions. Thank you in advance.
  12. I uninstalled the program then restarted my computer earlier. However, the program's still there and when I tried uninstalling again, I can't find it in the Control panel. I had to do a system restore to get in working well again. My free trial is expiring in 9 days, and I don't want to go through that again. I want this program out. Is there an EASY way to do this? Please help me. I dont want to do what's described here hxxp://support.eset.com/kb2289/because I'm not good with computers and I don't want to cause more damage. Please please help.
  13. Need help...installed Win 10 on July 28, '15, and since then have not been able to perform regular ESet updates. The last update noted on my eset window is 07-29. I can go through the motions of performing an update but no results. Please help.. P.S.: I am NOT a computer whiz
  14. Hello there smart pepople ;-) I'm using ESET Endpoint Security 6.1.2227.3 To the point: 1) CLEAN installation of Windows 10 x64 Pro on my laptop 2) ALL drivers downloaded using Windows Update 3) ESET Endpoint Security 6.1.2227.3 Installed Laptop is perfect, no slowdown, no errors, ESET is doing perfect EXCEPT one thing. Very often I'm using Intel WiDi technology, to mirror screen from PC to my TV - Samsung Smart TV - I think using Miracast technology. After conection is made, DU Meter (program to monitor network activity/speed) is showing steady data flow at around 1 MB/s rate. Probelm is AFTER connection is made, ESET service goes to 30%-40% CPU usage and stays between those values until I disconnect from my TV. After I disconnect from my TV, ESET service is doing normal job at around 0%-1% CPU usage - at least task manager says that. What I tried: 1) I switched off firewall (allow all traffic) - still the same CPU usage after PC connected to TV wireless using WiDi 2) I switched off AV protection - still the same CPU usage after PC connected to TV wireless using WiDi 3) I switched them both off - still the same CPU usage after PC connected to TV wireless using WiDi 4) I reinstalled ESET Endpoint Security 6.1.2227.3 - still the same CPU usage after PC connected to TV wireless using WiDi While high CPU usage there are no active AV scans beeing made by AV. In other words, ESET is not doing anything heavy (or I'm not aware of). Can someone help?

  16. Hey all, I've installed W10 today and recommended Endpoint Antivirus in v. But HIPS is inactive due to communication failure with driver. Any thoughts ? Thanks Ivo
  17. Hi All, Just wanted to say "Thank you" to ESET for making the Smart Security software compatible with Windows 10 upgrade. I used the Media creation tool to upgrade my Windows 8.1 to 10 and everything went smooth including leaving ESET Smart Security running as usual before I started the upgrade. Been running for hours now and Eset is up-to-date in signature. cheers
  18. I just upgraded to Windows 10, latest build. All appears well but for installing either v8 or 9 beta of Smart Security. The install will begin normally, but after not long hangs and will not complete. I've used the uninstall tool and that works as expected, but every time I try to install the same problem results. Sadly, therefore, right now I'm stuck using *gasp* Windows Defender. Has anyone else experienced this situation, and if so, come up with a remedy? Perhaps something or some service is running that is causing interference?
  19. Don't know how many of you have noticed, that even when using the windows 10 upgrade option. It replaces all your old chipset drivers with *generic* microsoft ones. You can check by going to control panel > device manager > system devices , and looking at the drivers (version and author). Going to your motherboard manufacturers website and downloading new windows 10 compatible chipset drivers might cure any problems you are having installing ESS/EAV.
  20. Windows 10 comes with an insane service agreement that states; Will Eset's firewall be able to prevent remote access by Microsoft and its 'technology partners'? Is Eset aware of any code or function made by Microsoft which can and will prevent 3rd party security vendors from thouroughly securing their computers?
  21. Windows 10 Home Premium introduces automatic updates with no options to manage them by delaying or not updating. Will Eset Smart Security in integrated mode allow you to block/unblock the updates and thus give some level of management of them?
  22. I'm currently using Eset Antivirus 9 Beta version on Windows 10 Pro x64 build 10.0.10240. When I rightclick on the Eset system tray icon, the Eset tray menu pops up, but also Windows system tray popup menu. I don't have this behavior with other tray icons like the Steam Client, Dropbox, Keepass (as example in attached image) etc. Bug, feature, or just me?
  23. Just installed windows 10 and currently running first full start up scan and got this C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Toolkit Final\install.bat - Win32/TrojanDownloader.Adload.NPA trojan - cleaned by deleting - quarantined anything to be concerned about? Wayne
  24. We are pleased to announce that both the HIPS and Anti-Stealth modules now fully support the latest Windows 10 build 10240 which should be the final. HIPS module: 1190B Anti-Stealth module: 1080 We look forward to hearing from you if everything works fine with these modules.
  25. Hello, Recently upgraded to Windows 10 Build 10166 and I can't get eset to work anymore. It tells me that "EET Personal firewall initialization failed. The personal firewall is disabled most likely due to its installation being corrupted. We recommend that you reinstall ESET Smart Security as soon as possible." Except it won't let me repair or unstalled it. When I try to repair it, I get "An installation package for the product ESET Smart Security cannot be found. Try the installation again using a valid copy of the installation package 'NUPD9FD.msi'. When I try to remove, it says I have to be administrator (I am) and when I try to just reinstall again, it says "you have the latest version". Please Help
