  1. v8 has a problem where on windows machines it wouldn't let system restore to successfully restore the system. this is related to hips and how it protects system files. we were told that they would add an option that will allow system restore to complete successfully in a future version. i wanna know if that option was added in v9. (i hate to uninstall my av in order for a restore to complete)
  2. Eset often shows me a lack of system-updates, which Windows 10 itself does not offer. Is it a harmless way to install the system-.updates via Eset or should I better use the Windows-update-funktion? Thanks a lot!
  3. ekrn.exe keeps crashing every time NOD32 detects a virus/troja in e-mail. After threat is found, crash follows. I am using Windows 10 64bit (one day old clean install), latest Thunderbird (38.6.0) and latest NOD32 Antivirus (9.0.375.0). Thunderbird is using IMAP. Is there anything I can do to fix it? What can be done, what are my options to get this working? If I can provide any more info, just ask. Thank you!   4. Just to let you know and ask if you are aware of the problem? If you upgrade to build 14271 with the latest eset endpoint antivirus installed or install it after upgrading you get a BSOD after rebooting. The blue screen mentions the file edevmon.sys which is of eset. Do you have a fix/workaround?
  5. I am using NOD32 on Windows 10 with Firefox and Internet Explorer. Since today's update, NOD32 blocks product pages on Amazon.de - e.g. this one: hxxp://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B00005U2FA Insted, a warning is shown that the page contains a JS/ScrInject.B trojan. This applies both to tries with Firefox and Internet Explorer. Somehow I am not convinced that Amazon has a trojan on their pages...
  6. I have bought a new physical license to go along with my new Laptop and today I've started installing it but I've ran into pretty big problems. Specs: Produktname: ESET Smart Security Produktversion: 9.0.349.15 Betriebssystem: Windows 10 Home (64-bit) Computer: Intel® Core i7-6700HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz Model: Acer Predator G9-791-78PE It first started up the .exe from the CD normally and then BSOD'd at the activation screen, stating "IRQL not less or equal", after that the system restarted itself. After passing the boot up, I quickly started up, ESET activated my Key and passed but the Computer name was left empty and it asked for a password, which I didnt setup on the other Laptop / Eset. Then Eset didnt even popup in the "Programs and Features" and I couldnt uninstall it anywhere and I was forced to reset the computer. I first installed everything I needed and proceded to install ESET last but the same things happened, no Computername, BSOD, and no activation despite acccepting the key. Do you have any solution for me? Thanks and best regards Guabat
  7. Hi, I'm currently trying out ESET Nod32 and decided to create a Rescue CD, but every time I try to run the installer, it just says "ESET SysRescue failed to create.". I've also tried downloading the .iso image and then check "Use previously downloaded ISO file" but the error persists. I am on Windows 10 Home 64 bits. Thanks in advance.
  8. Hello all, I am posting in these forums because for years I have been using ESS security software, since my XP Machine and the days when it was called NOD32. I loved it and never had any problems with any version of ESS up until now v9. All the previous versions worked flawlessly on my computers. Now here is the thing. I waited and waited and finally updated my system to Windows 10 TH2 OS Build 10586.71 in November. Now this is a clean install. I realize I did a stupid thing by removing ESS v9 before making this post so I could be able to send some logs but the freezing was driving me insane that I had to remove it. So basically my problem is that with ESS v9 on some occasions when I boot up the computer it just freezes right at startup after I login. The system becomes unresponsive. The only way I can get back into the system is by holding down the power key and power down and then restart. Sometimes after the 2nd try I get in. Now the reason I am thinking that ESET is the culprit because this is my 3rd install on this machine. Clean format install. First I thought it was a drivers issue, then I blamed and diagnosed the hardware. After doing these steps for the last 2 months and up until today I did another format and descovered that my ESS v9 is the culprit. Now how do I know this? Well this format around, I installed nothing. I did a complete clean install from the USB ISO created by Microsoft installer. Then once I installed I added 3 programs, Firefox, Chrome and Winrar. Also added Flash for Firefox, let Windows update install all the rest by itself, drivers and etc. This laptop is a Lenovo ThinkPad x220 series laptop. So the hardware is decent. i5-2520M CPU, 4GB RAM, 256GB SSD, Intel HD Graphics 3000. All drivers and everything are WHQL signed and work just fine, no problems in display manager. So, I installed ESS v9, completed setup, activated trial license 30 days, reboot working OK, reboot again, working fine. Shut down, leave for a few hours, startup. Boom, frozen at desktop with the ESS logo on the desktop, system completely unresponsive. Had to hard shut-down the computer via power button. Now this had been happening for the last 2 months and I was troubleshooting the out of the laptop, thinking its a driver error, Windows 10 error, some other software, nothing. I am not a n00b when it comes to computers so I couldn't believe it was ESS v9, it was my last resort. Anyways, I uninstalled ESS v9 and low-and-behold!!! The system doesn't lockup anymore!!! All is back to normal. So, there is something in ESS v9 that is causing my W10 machine to freeze at boot for no apparent reason. As I make this post I am going to install ESS v8.0.319 and activate a trial license and see how the system responds. I never had any problems with ESS v8, it always worked just fine. I went to v9 because I figured new Windows (w10) I should update the software to ESS v9 for Windows 10 because its probably made for it. So I am going to keep this thread active and see how it goes. As it stands now, ESS v9 has been removed from my system, I have no A/V and the computer is not freezing at all. I am booting up, shutting down, restarting, everything, no freezes. This is now my 4th clean format and quite frankly I am sick of formatting the computer trying to troubleshoot it, thinking it was something else. I will monitor this for 24h and proceed to install ESS v8 and see what happens to my system. As far as I stand ESS v9 is locking up my computer because as soon as I removed it, the freezing stopped. This is an official release of Windows 10 PRO v1511, no insider editions nothing. And no other software or drivers have been installed. I have left this as basic as possible, to see what is causing the freezing at boot. So far no ESET, no freeze, so its starting to make me really wonder about ESS v9 and W10 compatibility. I don't think ESS v9 is W10 ready yet IMO. Also ESS v9 kept on asking for operating system updates to W10, that were non-existent. It would suggest 20 or so critical updates (mostly hardware) but when clicked to update, the notification would just disappear and Windows Update would come back saying no new updates are available. So this is a bug in v9 for W10 machines. I hope an ESS Tech Support team/agent will take a look into this and follow up with me. So far as I type this ESS v9 has been removed. I'm sorry I didn't keep it for log purposes but if you need me to reinstall it, I will to find out what is causing these errors. So far I want to monitor the computer and abuse it, see if there are any lockups at boot without ESS v9 installed so I can 100% rule out that it is the cause of my system lockups. Thanks.
  9. After installing 9.0.349, Outlook 2016 gets stuck in a send/ receive and never completes. Existing emails are downloaded but the progress indicator never stops and new emails are not received as they come in. This behavior stops if I uninstall ESET and resumes again after a reinstall. I've tried disabling the Outlook integration both from inside ESET and from Outlook but that didn't make a difference. I've even reinstalled Windows 10 several times. Not really sure what else to do. If anyone has any idea how to fix this, I'd really appreciate it. If not, is there some way to get an official installer for 9.0.318? Thanks.
  10. Running ESET 8 on WIndows 10. Got a notification that I should update to ESET 9. The first part goes well, including downloading and settings. When installing, I get a message that NUPA93E.msi cannot be found in Windows\TEMP (see attachment). Installer breaks at this point. I don't have anything with that filename on my PC anymore. Please advise.
  11. I am trying to connect RealVNC to several home computers and the viewer times out on ever attempt to connect to the server on my other machine. I had a port conflict with voip device but by adding a router exception and changing the default port to 4900, still no connection. From an earlier post I see that the eset personal firewall needs some exceptions as well, but though a retired systems software developer, I can not understand all of the options in the current release of smart security 9 with that post. I would appreciate some help in the detailed descriptions to make this work The laptop is connected wirelessly to my tp-link WR840n router and all computers but one are using Eset Smart Security They are also all windows 10 machines. I am not in the mood to start looking at a tcp line monitor tool to find out just what is happening, but can if need be. My network security knowledge is a bit rusty, so detailed instructions would be greatly appreciated. Walt Johnson Spokane, WA

  13. I have recently contact the eset smart security customer service to try to perform an unlock action on a remote computer. However, the unlock.exe tool is not capable of unlocking the current version of eset smart security 9.0.349. (admin right and shown Done when follow the instruction; but will hitting f5 will still prompt for the passoword) It's unfortunately that I have to perform all the action remotely and I do not want to risk losing the access to the remote computer via manual uninstall. As a result, Please update the unlock.exe utility.
  14. My Banking and Payment Protection isn't launching anymore. When I first installed SS9 it ran as intended, now it opens a small window quickly and then dissapears with out launching. When I first installed SS9 and first launched bank protection it told me to launch it using Internet Explorer instead of my default Edge browser, which I did and it worked just fine. Now I can't get Bank Protection to launch at all... I'm also having problems with SS9 not scanning my emails or for spam, I've had another post up for a week now, with zero help. What's up with ESET? I've been running with ESET for as long as I can remember, probably 10 years, and have never had any issues. Now it's one issue after another... Is the problem ESET SS9? or is it Windows 10 compatibility issues? I'd love some clarity and direction, but I'm afraid this post will be ignored like my other one too. I'm so frustrated I'm ready to just go buy Norton, and try and get a refund for SS9...

  16. I've noticed since I installed Windows 10 (clean install) with ESS 9 (clean install) that I get notications for all Windows Updates even though it's set to Critical only. Also half of the updates listed are not shown when I go to windows update? These are usually drivers an optional updates. How do I get to these? Many thanks, Paul.
  17. I was running ESET Endpoint AV 5.0.2228. I downloaded the newest 64-bit .MSI from ESET's website, and installed it over 5.0. After the installation completed, it asked me to activate the product with my key, which I did. Now the issue is, my Endpoint AV will not connect back to my ERAC, despite the settings being the same. I checked the settings on another machine just to make sure, and they are all identical. When I try to run an update on my Endpoint AV, I immediately get an error message, "Virus signature database update ended with an error. Unidentified server response." I accessed the "Advanced Setup" and changed the Update Server to "Choose Automatically", and it grabbed the updates just fine. However, I'd like for it to actually grab updates from ERAC. I am a novice when it comes to this, so I'm not 100% sure where to begin. Thanks in advance for any assistance!

ESET SS 9 on Windows 10 Pro: After installing ESS (free 30-day trial), sometimes (not every time), the computer Shut down, Restart and Sleep are very slow (take several minutes) and sometimes the system freezes. The last time when I want to put the system on Sleep mode my system froze - the screen is turned OFF but the system power, system fan and HDD led were still ON for along time (6 hours approx.). Knowing that, when I uninstall ESS, everything is working well with Windows Defender. In addition, I have tried the followings with no results and the issue still the same: - I uninstalled then reinstalled the ESS9. - I uninstalled ESS and previously installed UVs (Symantec EPP) manually using the ESET Uninstaller by following the steps provided by ESET (hxxp://support.eset.com/kb2289/#Windows10). Knowing that I had the same issue with ESS 8 on Windows 8.1 Pro before upgrading to Windows 10 and ESS 8 on Windows 10 Pro after upgrading. I have tested (ESET NOD32 9) on the same system for a short time, and it doesn't have this issue and worked smoothly. Thank you in advance.
  20. Just upgraded from Win 7 to Win 10. I've got ESET Smart Security 9. My issue is that native MS programs such as Edge browser, Store, Skype and Search (internet, not local) is not connected to internet. My PC has ethernet cable connection to the router. Programs like Firefox and ESET (e.g. update virus database) works just fine, i.e. the PC does have internet access. Solution: Disable "Personal Firewall" in ESET. So, for me to use Edge, Store, Skype or Search (internet) I have to disable ESET firewall and activate Windows firewall. Anyone seen the same?

I am using Windows 10 Home edition 64 bit and ESET antivirus 9.0.318.0 After starting my system last night, i noticed that none of my email accounts were working and then when opened secure websites i couldnt opened them as well. I have then searched the internet and found some guides to re register all DLLS and then reset internet explorer, contact ISP, do telnets and so much stuff I have even paused the ESET protection thinking it might be doing it, But even pausing the protection didn't fixed the issue. I have spend whole night and was about to destroy my system and get a new one, finally i have found an advanced settings tab in ESET, In WEB and EMAIL menu , i have disabled the SSL/TLS filtering and everything started woking fine. I can only say that, This is madness ESET should thinking about this, how they are treating their paid customers.
  22. I tried to get my ESET Smart Security Anti Theft to recognize a new device (I bought a new ESET contract using an existing ESET account). I have followed the online instructions re: how to add a new device. It isn't working. I've worked on this for the past 2 days. All I get is the page telling me to create a new account - which it then won't let me do because my email address is already associated with an existing account. But the existing account fails to add the new device when I try. Quick help would be much appreciated.

Now that there's been a sufficient amount of exposure about Windows 10 sending information back to Microsoft (even when the user has adjusted the privacy controls), I'm wondering if this is where Eset will be able to shine. In other words, does Eset flag via popup alerts any of the surreptitious transfers of information Windows 10 performs---and if so, what should we be looking for as they're detected and brought to our attention?   24. I've decided to try out Eset Smart Security. After the trial was over I decided to remove it (didn't like the program tbh). After the removal, I could not connect the internet, both ethernet and wi-fi drivers were broken. I tried to remove and re-install the drivers but it did not work. I had to use system restore to make it working again. This program is the virus itself! I've been searching the forums for 2 days and I could not find a working solution. So I'm stuck with this useless program. Anyone have any solution for this? I'm using windows 10. I regret the day that I downloaded this software...
  25. Hello, I'm currently receiving an error for ESET Nod32 running version 9.0.318.0 on Windows 10. My home page as well as notification center are saying I require an update for my virus database, however when I try to run it, It says it is already updated. My license is valid until 2020.
