[Program Module Updated]

Does ESET still publishes module update information? I remember some time ago, we used to have module update information details, like what were packer details updated and sth like that.

 

And little deviation to the original topic, but related to VSD. Did anyone see the size of v9061 update, it has 16k entries. So, strange, i never saw a single update having entries having more than 250 or 300 entries..

thanks SweX for sharing information regarding instant signature updates (2-5 mins). Quite surprised to see that a feature exists in Eset and never mentioned officially on eset.com and wondering what is the reason behind it.

 

And a question to you/marcos/peter which i have asked previously..

reg. v7, I wanted to know what kind of exploits does "Exploit Blocker" is designed to block. (curious about it ). Does it block HTML,JS exploits?

What does this exploit blocker does? (i mean what kind of exploits it is designed to block?) There is no documentation available on it, understand as its rolled out beta module update.

[ESET Smart Security 7 Beta & ESET NOD32 Antivirus 7 Beta Released – Give Feedback and win]

I did a clean install of v7 beta around 6 days ago (been using NOD32 for around 6 years now) and found it to be a very stable beta.

However 2 days ago virus signature updates stopped working, I tried a manual update but just got the message that my sig database was up to date. I checked the ESET website and my database was behind by 4 updates.

Uninstalled for now as I haven't got the time to work out why this is happening. Now back to version 6.0.316

I had the same issue yesterday. I could able to resolve the issue by clearing the update cache in the advanced setting window...fyi

[ESS 7 - SysInspector Feedback]

Hi,

 

I have installed ESS 7 a week ago, and everything seems to be working fine as expected. This post gives a little feedback on sysinspector and network connection tools..

 

Network connections

 

1. Provide an option to copy remote ip in Network connections window. Refer to the attached screenshot for reference.

 

SysInspector

 

1. (UI improvement) Place "Show" button in ESS SysInspector interface along with Compare/Create/Delete buttons. And enable it when a single snapshot is seleteced. See the first image to see the window i'm referring.

 

2. (bug?) right-click on any given snapshot, disable "create.." option. not sure if this was the intended design.

 

3. (bug ?) Created a snapshot today, and see many files listed as risky (rating 9), of which many of files has age > 1 month. Not sure if this working as intended or not. Attached an example case. refere screenshot.

 

4. (perf improvement) Comparing two snapshots takes exceptionally long time. (i.e., it takes >5 mins to open after compare button is clicked). Could it be improved to take less than a min? (opening individual snapshot is quick, less than a minute)

 

And a question, if we submit any undetected malicious file, is there a way to confirm if a signature being added for it? ( i submitted one sample today from clean mx database)

[The V7 icon is so ugly..]

the new e icon looked very different for first few days, but as days passed by, i tend to like the new icon better and in alignment W8 i think.
