  1. Will there be an update soon? Please see screenshot. Thanks DrTeeth
  2. Thanks for getting back to me with those ideas lads, but the situation resolved itself after an automatic update. SweX, I had tried your idea but nothing seemed to shift it. I will bear it in mind for any future occurance. Arakasi, thanks for the clear cache tip. DrT
  3. Hi, My PC multiboots. On my XP partition the latest visurs updates have been downloaded, but NOD32 v7 is still flagging up an error that the databases have not been updates for some time. Both the icon and program home page shows this error. How can I correct this please? The update page/section confirms that the virus database IS up to date. TIA DrT
  4. True, it means 'Lion' in Hebrew. When one is in a small group, one just likes to check out to see if somebody is also a 'member'; nothing more sinister or fishy involved. Unless I communicate in Hebrew here using latin script . Relax, we all like ESET. I left Kaspersky due to the poor software (always same issues after each annual upgrade) and arsey forum administrators who have become dictatorial..
  5. Thanks Aryeh. How come you have a Hebrew name? Atah Yisraeli? Regards DrT
  6. I am not asking for perfection, but staying at 99% for well over 80% of the scan? Is there some tweaking that could be done? Why have them if they are so far out? I have 6 licences and approx 15 windows installs covered and the behaviour is consistent. It is not a major issue, but I find it damn annoying .
  7. The uninstaller automatically uninstalls the previous version.
  8. I do wish that ESET could make the scan progress bars work corrected. Both in v6 and v7, it gets to 91% VERY quickly (2-3 mins of a complete disk scan) and then stays at 99% for the rest of the scan, which can take well over an hour.
  9. The NOD32 installer automatically uninstalls the previous version.
  10. Thank you for the link. However, it does NOT address the issue. I know how to operate Gaming mode and trhe link just provides basic instructions. The issue is this, If I log out of a Win 7 session and ESET is green and not in gaming mode, and then login again without rebooting, ESET is orange and in gaming mode! I know how to turn it off (I have to do it every time ) but why does it automatically start in gaming mode after a simple logout and login?
  11. If I logout then login to my Win 7 x64 system (i.e. not a reboot), NOD32 (x64) always starts in gaming mode. I have to cancel this manually. Is this a bug or by design? Thanks DrT
  12. I was sure it used to be yellow/orange when I last used ESET AV (v5). Pt it down to my having a senior moment LOL. DrT
  13. Just a minor bug on the system that was experiencing the strangeness here https://forum.eset.com/topic/427-v6-x64-on-win-8/. I just booted into XP, and say that the Antivirus icon had become green with a '!' in it. I opened NOD32 and it was still not obvious what the issue was. That was because the problem was written in green, which of course means 'all well'. I was actually being told that the OS was not up to date - that is normally signified by the colour orange, both on the icon and the text. The computer has an Intel 3000 HD graphics chip (with an nVidia GeForce 630M chip under the Optimus configuration). Regards DrT
  14. My forum name will give you a BIG clue to my day job. I am a computer nut, all self-taught. I have 6 PCs and all multiboot at least 5 OSs - a mix of Windows versions and Linux Distros. ESET currently on all. My motto is "if it still works, I haven't tweaked it enough". I am also a licenced radio amateur and hold licences in two countries - England and Israel. TTFN DrT
  15. The simple work around is to have an Icon for ESET on the desktop for easy access. Marcos, happy to run any tests, reg changes or debug builds. I frequently back up so am safe for any mishaps. DrT
  16. Any news on this? With kindest regards DrT
  17. Hi Marcos, The build I have is 6.0.316.0. I have windows 7 and Windows 8 installed into their own primary partitions and they boot independantly. All my PCs are multibooting in that way - each OS in its own primary partition. I have 8 OS so far (three windows and 5 Linux) on this particular PC - the one that is experiencing the issue above. I updated the graphics drivers for the main Intel chipset to the latest without any difference. There is some strangeness with the Win XP system tray icon, abut at least it works correctlt afterwards. I do have the facilities to produce and MP4 with audio showing the issue if you would like it. Is it okay to have live links in these forum posts or would you like the link emailed to tech support/your good self. With kindest regards DrT
  18. Hi, I find I can use a click (left or right) on the system tray icon to temporarily disable protection. However, after that a click (left or right) no longer works and the icon becomes useless. No other use of the systray icon causes this issue - only protection disabling. Using the latest v6 version. Has this been reported before or am I the first ? I had a busy day yesterday, installing 6 PC licences on 15 installs of windows (all PCs multiboot). Once I have caught my breath, I'll give my Linux distos the ESET treatment . UPDATE:- The issue is evident with the Win 7 x64 install on the same PC. The PC in question is a laptop, with an Intel 3000 HD graphics chipset with an nVidia 630M card (Optimus). Regards DrT
  19. The interface needs rationalising. It is not always the case that all the options for a given feature are in the same place. IIRC, configuring the Idle scan needs two separate locations. When I was previously with ESET, I was concerned that thye main program was rarely updated. To me, as a customer, 'no change' means nothing good. No software is perfect as is not interface.
  20. Hi Aryeh, Thanks for you reply. I have left kaspersky forever, being a former ESET customer, as the K forums are not as friendly and the mods have some control issues (being polite natch). Ha'im atah Yisraeli? Regards DrT
  21. Hi, PMFJI, but isn't Linux meant to be secure? Is an AV necessary? I shall be installing NOD32 for Linux on my Linux partitions (all 6 of my PCs are multibooting - all with several distros) and I am just curious. I am just waiting until the last day of my Kaspersky licence before having a mass install of ESET to all of the OSs on all of my 6 PCs. Regards DrT
