I found it in the category of promotional cookies listed by some commercial websites:
    Name:CID
Purpose:Used by Adriver to deliver targeted ads to a user based on their browsing habits
    Provider:.us.ck-ie.com
    Service:Adriver View Service Privacy Policy
    Country:United States
    Type:server_cookie
    Expires in:7 day
This cookie is used for gathering data on how visitors use the website.
Adriver is a Russian operator of an Internet advertising management and control system.
I found an article that deals with this service provider and others, visit this page:
    https://adalytics.io/blog/adtech-not-checking-user-tcf-consent
Look for the article "Belgian user visits euronews.com". You get a nice little chain of how websites synchronise cookies with a number of third party data brokers and ad tech providers without the user's permission.
Had the SSL certificate used by the us.ck-ie.com web server not been revoked, and had ESET not alerted us, we would not have noticed the illegal data exchange going on in the background without the user's knowledge.

    Hello,

ESET is a private business.  It is not an agency of the Slovak Republic, or any other government for that matter.

Since the unwarranted invasion of Ukraine and illegal annexation of Ukrainian territory by Russia, ESET has worked steadfastly to help its neighboring country, ranging from donating hundreds of thousands of euros to charities involved in relief efforts, to providing additional security software and services, which includes numerous investigations into and blocking of attacks on Ukraine's critical infrastructure.
For more information on ESET's support of Ukraine, see the following:
ESET Response Center - Ukrainian Crisis ESET WeLiveSecurity blog - #Ukraine tagged articles As you enjoy reading The Guardian, here is another, more recent article from their website you might find of interest:  https://www.theguardian.com/world/2024/mar/30/slovakia-brain-drain-populist-leader-robert-fico.  Please carefully read the entire article, especially the last sentence.
Although my last name is Ukrainian, I am one of ESET's American employees.  Like my Slovak colleagues, I have been working tirelessly to help Ukraine where I can, and I hope this answers your questions about ESET's commitment to Ukraine.

    Hi @LeonelVargas96,
Thank you for sharing all the necessary information regarding your issue.
It seems there is a problem with the machines TPM and as it currently stands, cannot be used for FDE with EFDE.
I see the following error in the logs you provided:
[connector] [error] [3888] DLPCOMM_FDE_ConfigureTPM failed with error 3225157640
Which means "A TPM command failed", along with an additional error:
    [connector] [critical] [3888] DLPCOMM_FDE_EnhancedCommence returned 3225157649
Which means "The required Persistant Handle is not stored in the TPM".
Are there any BIOS/TPM firmware updates available for this machine?
If not, I can only suggest they attempt encryption without using the TPM in the set policy for this particular machine.
I suspect the machine would encrypt if you do not use the TPM for encryption.
Please do let us know if you have any success with firmware updates or simply encrypting without the TPM being used.
    Thank you,
    Kieran Stainton

Aryeh Goretsky gave kudos to Marcos in Server modules not updating
    There are 2 problems:
1, You have installed ESET Endpoint Security on a server OS. You should uninstall it and use ESET Server Security instead provided you have a valid license.
2, Endpoint Security was activated using a leaked license key from China which has been canceled in the mean time.

Aryeh Goretsky gave kudos to Kstainton in ESET FDE SSD speed
    Hi @Andras Kovacs,
Unfortunately, it is not possible to "tune" EEE/EFDE to obtain faster R/W speeds. If optimal disk speeds are required, then it does come down to having to use disks that support OPAL 2.0.
    Thank you,
    Kieran

The alert doesn't come from ESET. It's a pop-up ad delivered through push notifications that you have likely allowed on a website:

Then you should contact the seller, ask for a refund and purchase a license from an authorized ESET distributor or reseller. It appears that somebody sold you someone else's license.

Aryeh Goretsky gave kudos to Marcos in About the download size of ESET Anivirus updates
Streamed (pico) updates are a few bytes in size. Engine updates are typically a couple of kB if you update modules on a regular basis and don't skip updates. Module updates are bigger, one with the most notable size is the Machine learning module which is released several times a year and can be dozens of MB in size as there are basically no similarities with the previous version and the module contains quite much data about machine learning models.

Aryeh Goretsky gave kudos to Marcos in ESET Security Ultimate
This is a marketing / sales question so I can only quote the statement that I have received:
Our goal is to ensure the highest level of security for our customers and their households. The average number of devices and connections per person worldwide in 2023 is 13 in the US and 9 in Western Europe (www.statista.com). We want to meet customers' needs and provide more than device protection; with ESET HOME Security Ultimate we deliver top privacy, identity and device protection for a worry-free digital life.
ESET moderators and staff here are mainly technicians and developers so I would kindly ask you to turn with marketing, licensing and business questions to your local ESET distributor who can reach out to the appropriate staff at ESET HQ, if necessary.

Honestly it is not fair to blame ESET if you purchase a license from an unauthorized seller who sells licenses to several users for instance and the licenses are then canceled. The solution is to ask for a refund and purchase one from an authorized distributor or reseller.

    Hello guys,
the fixed modules are available on the Update servers since ~13:00 CET (November 14, 2023).
Users affected by this issue do not need to take any steps, the module will be updated automatically and the issue will be resolved by it.
We apologize for the inconvenience caused,

If possible, please switch to the pre-release update channel some non-critical Windows Server 2012 R2 systems and check if the modules load alright. Then you can switch back to the regular update channel.
We have adjusted the signing process to make work also on Windows 8.1 systems and have tested module updates on our Windows Server 2012 R2 without issues. We're going to use it for signing modules on the regular update channel as of the next week so we would appreciate feedback from you.
