Please. Please. Please allow users to freeze updates of modules, but not the anti-virus signatures during general updates. I am like many others who have chosen not to update to later versions of Windows 10 as I have taken a very long and extensive effort to get what software I use to work correctly with the earlier Windows 10 version I use, hence I have not nor want to continuously update. When version 16.2.13.0 of EIS updated over my working verson 16.0.26.0 of EIS, I received the message about Azure support, but also the firewall was disabled as a result of the product version update. There seemed to be no way around this. I could not restart the firewall. So the result was even less security. So, please allow freezing the product version while receiving signature updates to at least keep that current. Otherwise ESET is untenable. Thank you.

Minimalist, Thank you. I had found that setting, but wasn't sure it was the only one as I had an enforced product update from version 15 to version 16 on Windows 7, though not on Windows 10. m-b

As you know after years of doing this job, ESET users can become fairly upset when a version of the app stops working or stops getting antivirus definition updates. This feels like a line is being crossed by ESET developers/managers when the decision is to update an application itself (other than the definitions) automatically without the direct consent of the user. I am aware that as systems and software age, they become more vulnerable, but it still should be entirely in the hands of the user to determine when an update happens. That said, thank you for your response. When you said that product updates can be temporarily disabled in the advanced setup, exactly what section and menu item are you referring to? I have been a user of ESET for almost fifteen years now and do want to continue on good terms, so I am not trying to be inflammatory here.

Prior to a couple of days ago, I had several machines (multiple machine license)using EIS 15.2.17. Whenever I did a check for updates, I'd get the anti-virus signatures as expected. In the Update dialong I was not clicking on the update to version 16.0.24 button. My assumption was than in hovering over the tray icon for EIS and clicking on the "Check for updates" that I was getting only the anti-virus definition updates. However, one machine (a Windows 7 system) updated to version 16.0.24. I ended up updating my other machines to that version to keep all in synch. My question: is there a clear, understandable, predictable way to get only anti-virus signature updates and not product updates? I frequently backup the operating system and registry, meaning there is a huge amount of overhead whenever an application upgrade occurs. I want to avoid that. I'm looking for UI such as version 8 had where you could clearly select not to do a product update and only an anti-virus update. Each subsequent release of EIS has hidden more of that interface and/or seems to have made it harder to find. Is it there somewhere now?

Marcos, Thank you. After installing version 15.2.17 of ESET a/v on the target machine, I tried to install version 15.2.17 of ESET Internet Security, but could not. The message was something to the effect that "your internet security is up to date" and EIS would not install. I had to uninstall the EAV before I could install EIS, then I was able to use the exported configuration as you said. I have a license for five machines and have another machine that needs the same treatment, but am hoping there is a way to install over the existing EAV 15.2.17 with EIS 15.2.17 rather than go through the uninstall/install, reentering my license info, etc. Is there a flag or a command to force the install? Machine #1: I have a Windows 7 machine that uses ESET Anti-virus and a third-party firewall. Machine #2: Another Windows 7 machine uses ESET Internet Security for which I have created a large number of rules in the firewall to better control unwanted URLs and IPs, etc. I want to get rid of the third-party firewall and use ESET Internet Security on Machine #1. Is it possible to safely import the exported settings file from Machine #2 to Machine #1? Machine #1 has 15.2.17.0 installed from the EAV install (same size as the EIS install by the way) and Machine #2 has 15.2.17.0 installed. Though both machines have the same operating system, they are different hardware. Basically I want to avoid the trouble of manually entering all the settings again. Mike
