ESET scans email messages during the download through POP3(S) or IMAP(S). Real-time protection does not scan mailbox files on a disk. They are not scanned by the on-demand scanner by default either as scanning mailbox files requires "email files" to be enabled in the appropriate on-demand scan profile setup.

Today's update (13.0.7) has a "small" version of tor.exe again (7,927,296 bytes) - and like the previous small version, it is being marked as suspicious by ESET. Replacing it with tor.exe from 13.0.6 fixes it for now.

Hard to say. Browser protection module 1337 was released for another group of users. If you want, you could check if the issue recurs after switching to the pre-release update channel and then back to the regular channel when the module 1336 would be downloaded.

Just for the sake of telemetry .... I just updated ESET AV to 17.0.16 on two W10 Pro systems and no issues with the latest version of Edge (120.0.2210.77)

Temporarily disable this option and see if that solves the issue.

No issues here.  Posting this reply using latest ESET/Edge.  Same versions as yours.  I have no extensions loaded, just vanilla Edge.

Yes I had the same problem and had to extract the updated tor.exe from the installer -  I guess the torbrowser devs are having problems.

The problem has disappeared with newer version 13.0.5

I'm not getting the issue after copying the updated file. It might be worth checking which version of tor.exe you have in case it didn't get updated (as in my post above).
Sizes of different versions (based on tor browser version):
v13.0.1 - 8,543,744 bytes v13.0.4 - 7,926,784 bytes (marked "suspicious") v13.0.5 - 8,547,840 bytes  

Many thanks for the heads up. After updating to 13.0.5, I can't work out if the update left my 13.0.1 tor.exe alone or reverted to it as it is still the same binary file.
EDIT - ok I downloaded the 13.0.5 installer and extracted tor.exe and it was a different file - not sure why the browser update process didn't fix this. Anyway the new tor.exe does fix the issue like you said so maybe there was something "suspicious" about the 13.0.4 release.

This issue will be fixed via an automatic module update within 1-2 weeks. As a workaround, please unselect the registry in scan target selection.

Support for Thunderbird was discontinued years ago. However, email received via IMAP(S) or POP3(S) in Thunderbird is scanned by ESET. It's just that you can't scan already received messsages on demand or that received messages are not scanned by ESET antispam. Otherwise malware should be normally detected in received email.

Eset does not and cannot scan pagefile.sys, hiberfile.sys and swapfile.sys files. As your screen shot and my below screen shot shows, zero files were scanned;

If you are worried about malware in the pagefile, it can be cleared at system shutdown by setting appropriate registry key to do so. Or, via like Group Policy setting if you are running a Win Pro+ version.
Likewise, the hiberfil.sys and swapfile.sys files can be deleted by running appropriate command line option to disable Hibernation, rebooting, and then re-enabling Hibernation. The same also can be done via Group Policy option.

Process Hacker is indeed detected as a potentially unsafe application. System Informer cannot be misused in attacks, at least we have no information about a vulnerability that would allow it.

The engine version used to be shown in the past, however, with the introduction of LiveGrid and pico updates the engine updates became less important which is why the product version is displayed in the tool tip in current versions. Needless to say that decisions about changes in gui are made after deep analysis in cooperation of several departments and it's not just a decision of a concrete person.
