cofer123 gave kudos to itman in Windows Security Center Service unable to load instances of AntiVirusProduct from datastore.
The worst type of vulnerability is one in an AV product due to the elevated privileges it runs under. Now that this vulnerability has been publicly released, expect attackers to start actively exploiting it.
Again, you have been advised. It's your decision if you chose to ignore it.

cofer123 gave kudos to User in websites archive.today / archive.is / archive.fo /archive.li / archive.md / archive.vn / archive.ph not reachable with ESET Internet Security
For several weeks now I cannot use the websites
archive.today archive.fo archive.is archive.li archive.md archive.ph archive.vn
with ESET Internet Security installed. Regardless if I use Firefox, Chrome or Edge on Windows 11, Windows 10 and also Windows 7.
The sites just don't load.
The sites are fully working if I completely uninstall ESET Internet security.
A temporary deactivation of the firewall and/or virus protection in ESET has no effect.
What is the solution to this problem?

cofer123 gave kudos to MarcFL in "Browser Protection" Setting Missing from 17.0.15.0
I've given this situation more thought. Eset should pull this faulty update immediately. I have multiple devices and I also manage other home users with Eset. I have no desire to reinstall on all those devices - most with custom settings. Please advise if this will be fixed in a future update. Also advise if this "Browser Protection" module is still operational even though the configuration page is missing. Thank You for your assistance.

cofer123 gave kudos to itman in Ver. 17.0.3 Secure Search Issue
New problems surfaced this morning at system startup and there a multiple ones.
The first one is when I tried to open some of my apps via Win 10 Search bar option, they wouldn't open. Am I hacked! This also included the Eset GUI via desktop toolbar icon option. Further testing yielded that only the apps that had Eset HIPS rules were the problem. Sure enough, after about 20 secs. or so, I'm bombarded with all the queued HIPS app alerts with some of the apps opening on their own. After a period of time, the app opening problem did disappear, but did repeat on subsequent system restart.
Next problem is when I opened Eset Safe Banking option via its desktop icon option, I get the notification to add Safe Browser extension. Of course allowing that did not add the extension in FireFox since stand-alone Safe Browsing doesn't allow any extensions to run and it does not to install.
I next checked Eset ver. 17 modules and see that Browser protection updated to ver, 1331. So I reverted to Eset normal update mode which set Browser protection module back to ver. 1327. After system restart, above problems persist.
At this point, I have had it with ver. 17. I am reverting back to ver. 16.2.15. Eset needs much more internal testing of ver. 17 until its released to production.

cofer123 gave kudos to MarkF in Interactive Firewall useless since 16.2
But why would you release such unfinished state of application and essentially make beta testers out of users while removing expected functionality until some time in the future you say?! Makes zero sense to treat users like that.

According to the information from developers Intel has not announced the availability of models for Raptor Lake CPUs to AV vendors yet.

cofer123 gave kudos to Nightflow in How can i disable BPP notification
I work in this network for the next 24 months and now I have to accept this frame and this badge for 24 months just because the machine has to think for me? I find this solution unfavorable.
A simple option "I know the problem" and "I accept the risk" would be nice.

cofer123 gave kudos to itman in Keyboard app doesn't work correctly
Just disable the Secure all browsers option. You don't want to disable B&PP keylogger protection.
Secure all browsers to date conflicts with a lot of software. Add to this that it by default allows all browser extensions, etc., etc.. It should have never been implemented in the first place.

cofer123 gave kudos to constexpr in Green border around browsers
Just reminder for those of you who may be missing the latest update that "Browser's green frame" setting was modified and now when it's disabled, the badge and green frame are not showing at all. It remains only for orange and red status.
EIS > F5 > Web and email > Banking & Payment protection > Browser's green frame

cofer123 received kudos from itman in IS causes lag, gamer mode/disabling real time does nothing
Just to clarify: the I/O reads and writes shown on Task Manager do not correspond to disk reads/writes. It encompasses disk, network, inter-process communication, and devices. To clearly identify disk reads/writes, use a tool like Process Explorer with elevated privileges and enable the Disk Read Bytes and Disk Write Bytes columns.

cofer123 gave kudos to itman in Banking and payment protection discussion
Glad you brought this up.
Eset in ver. 16 by default enabled the Secure all browsers option which is the source for all these green border complaints.
However to allow supported browsers to be usable, Eset by default also allows all browser extensions to be functional. It goes without saying that the primary source of browser malware are extensions/add-ons. Also by doing this, Eset actually weakened prior B&PP capability which didn't allow any extensions/add-ons to load.
I for one want nothing to do with the Secure all browsers feature. If Eset decides in a future release to make the feature mandatory, it's "bye-bye" to Eset usage for me.

cofer123 gave kudos to SeriousHoax in there is release date of version 16?
So people now also can't run their browser in Sandboxie I guess because ESET itself is making the browser run sandboxed all the time. I don't know if it's really a good idea to run browsers 24x7 is a sandbox by the AV. Improvement in security maybe, but could break things in future browser updates. Browser vendors already don't like security software meddling with their browser.

I already see many users complaining about the green frame. It needs to go completely when the user disables the "Browser's green frame" option.

Remove "More Tools" button and include all tools under the Tools option. "More Tools" button just does not make sense its an additional unwanted click to get into additional tools.

You can download the Eicar test file from https://secure.eicar.org/eicar_com.zip. It must be detected by ESET if SSL filtering works.

Once again, ESET didn't take part in the ransomware test done by AV-Test. This make it look like ESET is afraid to take part in this test because they know very well that their product is weak against ransomware.

cofer123 received kudos from New_Style_xd in Eset and Task manager conflict or bug?
I can confirm. The issue seems fixed.
I have performed the step I mentioned earlier and performed a clean install of EIS, waited for the module updates to finish, and the Performance Monitor counters are still working properly.

We are working on a fix which will also restore counter settings automatically. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for patience.
