    Done. Thank you for heads-up.

peteyt gave kudos to itman in Improve ESET LiveGuard's detection ability against Cobalt Strike Trojan
The problem with hoax malware like this is it will often employ a screen locker at system startup time to display the hoax malware/tech support message. The result is a totally inaccessible system. This appears to be the case with this sample.
Whereas the Ctrl-+Alt-+Del, ALT+F4, etc. keyboard combo works with most of these to bypass the lock screen and allow access to the desktop, only security aware individuals are aware of this trick.
Finally, the average user will most likely respond to the telephone number posted in the hoax message to get access to his system. Once done, he can be duped into paying money to fix the issue. Or worse, actually downloading malware or remote control software allowing full access to his system.
Eset needs to detect hoax malware.

Eset needs to improve its detection of Cobalt Strike components. Having a backdoor residing on your device is totally unacceptable:

More AVs detected those files initially, some were detected by Microsoft as well. We hope that Microsoft will start to sign their files or take other measures in cooperation with AV vendors to prevent false positives on non-prevalent files.

peteyt gave kudos to itman in ESET internet scan for 00000000's
Here's a link to the PC Security Channel video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e6o2afben0s .
Leo does note that many of these fake installers are huge; the one he analyzed was 300 MB+. As such, it won't be scanned by many of the web based malware detection sites since they have restrictions on file upload size.
The insertion of binary zeros in various portions of the executable is a clever trick. Assumed here is the malware creator went to some lengths to test what AVs he could bypass their scanning using this technique.
The most important thing to note in the video is Leo's statement that this type of malware does have a short "un-detection shelf life" by AV's with most detecting it fairly quickly.

peteyt gave kudos to Marcos in Virus removal service
The malware removal service is for free for paying users. The service is provided by ESET staff, it's not outsourced. I can speak for ESET Slovakia, we have personnel trained to provide malware removal services as well as advanced threat monitoring services leveraging ESET Inspect and the service is regularly highly rated by customers. I will find out how it is in India which appears to be the country you are in.

There are no such plans currently. Moreover, modules on the release update channel may change during the day forth and back within minutes when a module is released in a relatively smaller batch. If the engine is up to date, then also the other modules must be. If there was a problem updating the engine, other modules might not be updated either (if the engine was quite old). However, such issues would be signalized by errors in the Event log.

peteyt gave kudos to The_Eagle_007 in Password Manager Issues
I have set up 2fa for Eset Password manager of mine. Also checked the box remember me. Eset needs to introduce lock option which users can use to manually lock the password manager. A lot of password managers offer this feature. When I open my PC and browser for the first time it is automatically signed me in which is not good as per privacy or security perspective. I have setup the inactivity lock after few mins. But if it opens the password manager after the browser is opened for the first time then the whole security is being compromised. Rather introduce a lock option and make sure 2fa authentication will not be required after signing in for the first time afterwards the user can lock it manually. It keeps asking me the master password and 2fa at small intervals if I have not enabled the remember me option.

Please reply to my post and provide me a solution for it.

peteyt gave kudos to Peter Randziak in Strange behavior after updating Microsoft Edge to Version 110
The dev team decided to disable Protected websites redirection feature for Chrome and MS Edge browsers, until the issue is resolved in order to prevent the browsers crashes.
The change will be distributed via an Rapid response module update (probably with version 21778).
After the automatic update, the Chrome and MS Edge won't crash anymore, but the Protected websites redirection feature will not work until we release the full fix.
Disabling the Protected websites redirection feature resolves the issue.
Another way to resolve the issue is to use the Secure all browsers option.
We apologize for the inconvenience caused by this issue.

We'll reconsider it in the future once the redirection mode will be removed from BPP and Secure all browsers will be used which will make browser protection easier for maintenance.

It might be worth also emailing your findings if you have not done so as I know Eset prefers this over the forum. I've not seen anyone from Eset address this on here but will tag @Marcosin as they may have just missed this

It's "Enable protected website redirection" that causes it.

Yes, you are right, disabling it, edge works with or without "Protect all browsers", but the problem remains.

peteyt received kudos from LesRMed in Do Threatsense parameters always scan for dropdowns?
What I mean is if something tries to access it eset will see the attempt and scan. It will not constantly scan.
As I posted every time you posted this, the chances are slim. What makes you think you are infected?
As I also posted, flash it which will remove any malware if there. If you are that worried why not do this and then you'll know for sure. But the chance is if Eset is not detecting anything then you are fine.

Wondering if you have tried uninstalling in safe mode and then reinstalling the latest from scratch.
I remember this bug being posted a bit a while back but I've not seen it brought up lately so just wondering if parts of old code etc. has remained when updating

peteyt gave kudos to TheStill in Do I "have" to create an ESET HOME account?
This sounds like the words subscription and automatic renewal are getting mixed up.
From what you are describing this is the ability to cancel automatic renewals will be made easier.
I have a subscription to Netflix I pay monthly but I don't have a subscription to my car insurance that I pay yearly.
I believe this is what is confusing people.

Can you clarify what you mean by subscription as cannot see anything anywhere online.
Do you mean that eset will go to a monthly subscription option instead of yearly etc.

Just curious what you mean by transition to subscription model as eset currently is A subscription e.g. for a year

Since subscription is currently used in the US only, please contact ESET LLC if there's something unclear regarding it. As far as I know, it's yearly subscription and can be de/activated in e-store after logging in.
At this stage when integration of the subscription system is still being worked on and decisions are being made, I'm unable to provide any further details. In the end, the system should bring benefits to users and make renewal seamless and hassle-free.

Your version of ESET v11 nor v12 is no longer supported. Uninstall it and download and install v16.0 from https://www.eset.com.

Well it seemed to work, I got the old Eset uninstalled in safe mode using the uninstall tool and I was able to reinstall the latest version and it seems to be fine. Thanks!

As for file shredder, there are no such plans yet as far as I know. As for VPN, this is being considered but no decision has been made yet.
