Hi, I was able to reproduce this, thanks for reporting.

I will raise this issue with the forum developers.

    Hello @peteyt,

thank you for the feedback provided.

I passed it to the guy responsible and he is checking it.

I can see the links bug has now been fixed and the previous links restored but the quoting bug when trying to remove quotes is still there

1, Rules can be renamed. Sorting will be added in one of the next versions.

2, With sorting added, you will be able to sort rules by the usage counter, select those that have been never or seldom used and delete them at once.

Good to know. Would Eset ever think about adding a logo in to represent the app in future versions?

I have a feeling the early days had this for eset e.g. as well as the name you'd see the apps default icon which would make identifying rules easier.

Not sure if it would flow as well with the new UI though but could work

  3. Just a heads up

The welivesecurity.com sub forum posts don't seem to be posting the links to the articles they are talking to anymore.

Old posts are fine but have noticed the ones from at least the last few days haven't included any links

Ok, but what I'm saying is that since my phone's battery is already a couple of years old, my phone is not capable of charging fully anymore.

Instead, my phone is only able to charge until the battery is at 97% charge; and then it stops charging.

This means that ESET Mobile Security will never run the on-charger scan on my phone.

This also means that if I want my phone to be scanned periodically, then my only option is to do it manually. This is very inconvenient, as you can imagine.

Could a battery setting be stopping the battery fully charging?

Marcos, I'm afraid the spinning wheel issue still exists on v16.2.11.0. Happens randomly.

I downloaded installer from 'downloads' link on top of forum menu.

Disappointing that ESET still can't fix this 😪

Might be worth backing any custom settings etc. and using the eset uninstaller in safe mode https://support.eset.com/en/kb2289-uninstall-eset-manually-using-the-eset-uninstaller-tool

Then Install the pre release version from scratch. This will rule out this being caused by leftover files from a previous version

The last link you posted does indeed lead to a place where I could download an APK file called simply ems.apk. When I installed it, it indicated it conflicted with "ESET Mobile Security", meaning the version I had downloaded from APKPure. (It did not upgrade that installation). I uninstalled the app as downloaded from APKPure and proceeded to set up the version downloaded from ESET with your link. So far, so good. It did not require login to Google. In fact, besides to option to sign into an ESET Home account (which I did), if offered an option not to sign into any account and just provide an email for notifications from ESET.

However, after setting it up and running my first scan, I checked the version and found it is not the current version. The APK I downloaded from ESET is v. 8.0.39.0-16. By comparison, the version I downloaded from APKPure is v. 8.0.39.0-15, and the version installed from the Aurora Store (which required Google login) is v. 8.1.17.0. So I still don't have the latest version.

I am not going to spend more time on this now. I hope that at some point ESET will make it easy for me to run the latest version without logging into Google. I did find a place under Settings where I can tap Update. It says "Version: 8.0.39.0 (up-to-date)." Maybe at some point I will be able to use this option to update this installation to v. 8.1.17.0.

    Thanks for looking into this.

Could be that what you had previously downloaded is the beta version. I'm signed up to the beta version via the Play Store and it shows me on 8.1.17.0-83 so it might simply be that the store you used offers the beta version without having to sign up.

Are you talking about the next version after this 16.1.14.0?

No I meant the next higher product level.

Network Attack Protection is an extension of the Firewall that improves the detection of exploits for known vulnerabilities at the network level. By implementing detections for common exploits in widely used protocols such as SMB, RPC and RDP, it constitutes another important layer of protection against spreading malware, network-conducted attacks and exploitations of vulnerabilities for which a patch has not yet been released or deployed.

There was talk I believe to include this with nod32 but don't think it ever happened. But I may have misheard that anyways.

I do think for this feature alone it is best to get the next level above nod32

I believe most users don't care about security until they are victim.

Even then they still often don't care. The general public tend to want protection that runs in the background but cyber criminals can use that to their advantage

  9. I presume these are some of the newer security stuff with windows. Each new version does have newer protection so comparing to older versions isn't really applicable. I'd also add people would be put off by an AV not signed properly as it could look dodgy and you need to be able to trust your AV

You mention a Hotel Clerk using XP but surely any system a hotel would use would contain data, either just user data and/or card details.

I think in these days it's bad advise/practise to advise people to use an OS no longer officially supported and officially patched

If I purchase a Internet Security 2023 license today, can I activate it when my current license expires on 1/10/2024?

If you purchase a license today as far as I'm aware, if done online at least, the date starts from when you purchased it so if it's a year license it will end a year after purchasing.

Boxed licenses are slightly different though.

Hi. I wanted to know if there are tell tale signs someone is accessing my computer via spoofing means or has a rootkit on my system. I heard that most good rootkits will stay well hidden from most antiviruses so I was wondering if there’s any way I can block all connections to my computer in hopes that if a prevalent rootkit is on my system it can’t access or do anything because I blocked connections.

Blocking all connections I presume would block stuff needed to. By default outbound connections are allowed but inbound are blocked.

Best thing to do would be to make sure you have at least internet security installed as Nod32 doesn't include a firewall or network protection. Password protect it so settings cannot be changed.

If RDP is enabled (Remote desktop Protocol), either disable or make sure you have a good password and set up some group policies to avoid multiple login attempts
