  1. I refer to the computer protection system. Eset was flashing red, telling me that real time protection was offline and that my computer was no longer safe because a service (or was it a module ? I can't remember the exact words) had stopped. Each time I tried to turn the computer protection off and on again but it never worked. I had to reboot to get back to normal protection. I use chrome with ublock origin and don't visit shady websites. I don't download executables from emails, I only download them from their official sources and java is not installed.
  2. Hello, I leave my computer on for very long periods fo time (sometimes 30 h. straight) and I noticed that the threat protection module of v9 is unstable. It doesn’t fail everyday, but it fails at least once a week and in an unpredictable manner. I have to restart the computer to turn it back on. At first I thought it was because of windows 10 not being mature enough but the problem also happened when I switched back to windows 7. I tried both the internet suite (english v9) and the standalone antivirus (english v9) and the threat protection module failed at some point with both products. Eset is the only security product I use and the first thing I install when I format my hard drives. I use steam, battle.net, chrome, libreoffice, qbitorrent, 7zip, mpc-hc... I can't think of any program or service that could conflict with your products. I'm afraid I can’t help you troubleshoot the issue because I uninstalled it. I just can't keep an unreliable antivirus. But I hope you will seriously investigate the issue because I don't fully trust MSE either. Furthermore, I think you should speed up the work on the french localization. I remember that one early build of v9 was buggy as hell and people with the french version had to deal with it for month while the english version got fixed in a matter of days/weeks. That's just not acceptable for a security product. I have been a big supporter of your antivirus for the past 10 years but I don’t think I will be recommending Eset to my friends anymore until those issues are dealt with. Thanks for your time and sorry for the rant. Please let me know if the issue is known and being worked on. Also, let me know if you have an ETA on the fix so that I can reinstall Nod32. Have a nice day.
  3. I'm sorry but I needed this PC operational si I switched back to Windows 7. My drivers were all up to date and everything seemed to point ESS as the culprit but it seemed a waste of time to try and prove it when Windows 10 has so little to offer me. I did try to install ESS9 but the problem remained. It looks like very few people ran into this issue so it's no big deal.
  4. Hi guys ! I have had problems with my computer since I "upgraded" windows 7 to 10. I first noticed it when watching a video : the sound and the image were not synchronized (their was a 2 second delay between the image and the sound). Then I noticed it also happened with youtube videos and yesterday it happened with a video game as well, (left 4 dead 2). Sometimes the problem would go away for no apparent reason and would come back the next day. Weird. Since I'm in my ATI bashing phase, I immediately blamed my ati driver. To be sure I updated every driver that I could but it didn't fix the problem. I searched the internet about my issue but I felt very alone. Then I installed LatencyMon to try and troubleshoot what's causing the sound delay. The hard pagefault count was increasing steadily but I learnt not to read too much into this. The highest hard fault resolution time was very high though so something was definitely wrong. I disabled anything related to CPU throttling in the bios and in the system settings and set it to 100%. I also disabled the pagefile (for the fun of it) but these steps didn't fix my issue. Then I read something about Nod32 causing HD issues. So I disabled both the firewall and the protection components of my eset smart security suite and suddenly, the hard fault count was increasing a lot slower. But slower, I mean 95% slower. I still got spikes of hard fault resolution time but they were lower. So I was wondering if Eset could be the issue. I thought maybe there was some kind of leak that caused it to cause hard faults over time. Since W10 doesn't reboot from scratch everytime (I have fast boot on), the problem would temporarily go away only when an update forced a real reboot. Could it be it ? Here are my specs : AMD phenom 2 x4 965 Radeon HD 6950 8 Go RAM realtek HD Audio Windows 10 family eset smart security suite 8.0.319 (english) Thanks for your help. Any input is welcome.
  5. C:\WINDOWS\Temp\eset\ was empty. I tried to update (same error) and the folder is still empty (my hidden files are shown). I wiped the update cache. Tried again and same error, same empty folder. The file it tries to download is "ess_nt64_fra.nup". The error might be specific to the french client.
  6. Hello, When I click on the "product update" button in the "update" section of the software, the update fails with the following message "the update ended with an error - installation error". I'm using the french client on an up-to-date windows 7 x64 and have administrator rights. I cleaned the update cache but it didn't help. On a side note, I suggest you close the email support. I sent a help request translated both in french and english and after 8 days they sent me here hxxp://kb.eset-nod32.fr/esetkb/index?page=content&id=SOLN2476&viewlocale=en_US&actp=SEARCH and closed the ticket. Great. Have a nice day.
