  1. if you need a trial of WFS licensing, contact a reseller near you or through the forum. Greg
  2. Yes - if the server went away, just having it there is a potential problem if the settings are not password protected - but if the workstations are setup with policies, and the settings are password protected, it shouldn't be too big a problem. Not having the the ability to clear out old data is silly though - if I change the name of the local mirror from "esetmirror01.mydomain.com" to "esetmirror02.mydomain.com" because of a hardware change, what practical reason is there for not being able to remove the reduntant server?
  3. ESET is a channel business - they sell their Business products through resellers - if you bought a license, you should have a reseller already - and know who that is - now say you are new to your company and it becomes your job to renew the license, but don't know which reseller provided your ESET license, then contact ESET and ask - they'll tell you. Or - reach out to a reseller you would like to do business with - someone who helps in the forums, or someone just down the road from you -whichever you prefer - and have them quote you the renewal. Once you have your renewal - contact ESET - or have the reseller contact ESET - and have your "reseller of record" - changed to the reseller you prefer to do business with. None of this is too complex - but just going online and clicking around isn't going to get your license renewed at the business level - because it *must* go through *a reseller*. Cheers Greg
  4. As the reseller involved here - I can state that we did not "commandeer all renewals related to the email address" - ESET is a partner channel based company - if you you register/purchase licenses through a reseller, ESET than allocates your account - identified by email address, to the reseller. If you want to change resellers, or deal directly with ESET instead of the reseller - then contacting ESET and asking for that purchase option should override the reseller arrangement. ESET is, in the end - going to benefit from a happy customer more than anything. That said - we did speak on the phone yesterday - and I was able to get this license renewed - even though the ESET websites said it could not be renewed - we got you a renewal processed at renewal rates. We can sometimes work "magic" that the ESET website cannot. We're a small family run reseller- although we have a LOT of ESET customers - we continue to do well selling ESET software solutions because we are in the customer service business - we happen to sell a product we love and use ourselves - which is the ESET software. I hope that my explanation of the way ESET handled your account - ie, you are directed to a reseller based on the past relationship - keyed on your EMAIL address - not the license itself has cleared up any confusion - we certainly didn't commandeer your business!
  5. I always put beta software onto a machine with a sense of trepidation - and I've skipped a few betas - or chosen to load them to Virtual machines, just so I can trash the VM if there are issues I have not anticipated - or - more accurately, can't be bothered dealing with... but this v7 beta of ESET Smart Security is actually the best beta I've used in years - no issues so far - no crashes - no slowing down of the machine beyond what I've experienced in previous version... and maybe even LESS of a load than version 6 was... I'm pretty impressed so far!
  6. you can generally test these types of things yourself if you have access to a linux box and the command line "wget": first a standard "wget": Note how even a standard wget command is immediately redirected to a domain that is invalid - that's a really big sign that something is amiss. Next, if the file was downloaded, I would view the source - and if the source revealed nothing (which it did not here) - then I would run a couple of wget commands with different user-agent strings - if the file doesn't redirect and fail (they rarely do) - examining the resulting HTML file that download often yields a javascript or iframe embedded into the site code.
  7. can't you put the firewall in interactive mode - access the program approve the rules that should popup asking for permission?
  8. dwomack, this is in Business Products sub-forum so I'm thinking the OP wanted a business endpoint solution (just guessing) - I didn't see business (endpoint) products in the store for the .ph site you linked...
