Thanks for that link I found out the problem, when i uninstalled my previous antivirus (Avira) the mail protection had corrupted the mailboxes and they needed redoing.

I am currently running the trial until my copy of ESET smart security comes via the post but for some reason i cannot receive emails from my gmail account in outlook 2013, but i can recieve from my hotmail account. I can send from the gmail. Is there a way to fix this? I have disabled the firewall, email protection etc but its not working. This started after installing ESET.
