  1. yes I mean ess. I think I got the problem solved by doing a repair from add/remove programs, and anti-theft is now showing up as an option. that stupid bug that causes ESS to display an antitheft optimization warning is still present I see. I was hoping that it had been one of the bugs fixed this time around
  2. I just upgraded from ESS 10.0.304.0 to 10.1.204.0, and I noticed when I went to check my antitheft settings, they were missing. I can not find any reference to anti-theft anywhere in the program anymore. the only reason I have not switched over to EIS is because of the anti-theft in ESS. I got ESS because of the anti-theft feature. why is it no longer in the program?
  3. I noticed that there is now a ESS Premium. I have a valid ESS license, but appearently it isn't valid for ESS Premium. Is ESS Premium a different product than ESS? what little info i found, it seemed that it was simply a rename of ESS. If it is a different product, Can I upgrade my current license for ESS to ESS Premium for a discount?
  4. the only driver for win10 for this printer is from either windows built-in drivers, or the windows update catalog (both of which are the same version). so this is an issue with windows updates, and not ESS9 then?
  5. i apologize if this is not the place to report this, but i was unable to find a bug report thread. I have been dealing with what might be considered a minor bug ever since upgrading to ESS9. I am not even sure if it's even possible for the bug to be fixed, as part of the bug involves several windows features. the bug is with the update notification system. I am receiving constant system update available notifications from eset. but when I go to check, the only thing listed is a printer which connects to my system via windows homegroup feature. additionally, I have checked with windows update catalog, and there is only one version of the driver for this printer available, and my system and the system hosting the printer are using it. message from ESS9 SYSTEM UPDATES Total number of updates available: 1 Microsoft driver update for HP DeskJet 950C/952C/959C Recommended telling ESS9 to to install the updates brings up the updates menu in SETTINGS, but after scanning for updates, windows reports that the system is up to date. I have of course tried removing the printer entry on my system and having homegroup set it up again, but no new drivers are fetched (again, i'm using the ONLY driver available from M$.) there are no win10 or x64 drivers for this printer from HP.
  6. I made a very similar post on this thread too saying the sating the same thing so.... +1
  7. now my post which I wasn't accessible has apparently been deleted. clicking the link above says the item couldn't be found. Oh, Well..... I went and tried going to the websites the links contained, only to fid that ESET had indeed blocked them. I used ARCHIVE.ORG, and determined that the sites content had significantly changes since I had first bookmarked them years ago. whatever it is now is not what it used to be. I did this for the 'infected' URL link for 'hxxp://quirked.com/distortions'.I assume the same is the case for the other infected file(s). FINAL NOTE: DO NOT under any circumstances click the link above. I tried using the unlink button in the post editor to de-link-ify it, but when I clicked post, it turned back into a link. the link leads to a site which is now classified by ESET as a bad site. you have been warned.
  8. actually it's the same thing what do you mean it's the same thing? there is a clear difference in the UI of ESS7, 8 and ESS9
  9. My problem ism I don't think it is even possible for the files to be infected. The files were originally uploaded in 2009, well before the virus supposedly infected with was detected in the wild. The files which are only URL link files created originally from IE 6 or 7, have not been modified since 2009. the last modified date on the files on my OneDrive still are listed as 2009. the only way an infected file would hade gotten on my onedrive is if I was first infected with the virus, but I never was infected with LNK/AGENT.CH, ir anyother virus, malware or Trojan. In fact, the last virus I had was on a completely different computer (differernet computer from which the files in question originated as well) and came from a retail games floppy disk, but that was well over 15 years ago.
  10. I would like to see, when implementing a major UI overhaul, an option to use the previous versions UI design, when I went from ESS 8 to ESS 9, I was a little disoriented by the UI change, and still find the new UI more clunky and more difficult to navigate than ESS 8's simpler UI
  11. I am unable to access my forum post under the topic "false detection of OneDrive temp files on windows 10 threshold 2". I can see that there is a response to my posting, but when I try and access the topic when i'm both logged in and when I'm logged out of the eset forums, I get a "You do not have permission to view this forum." error. the link to my forum posting is here: https://forum.eset.com/topic/6806-false-detection-of-onedrive-temp-files-on-windows-10-threshold-2/ I really don't know why I am being blocked from accessing my own forum topic. I didn't attach the files that were giving the false positives, opting to use ESS 9's submit sample feature instead (just in case there really was something wrong with the files which had not been modified since 2009, when they were uploaded to my onedrive (it was called something else back then)).
  12. i finally got the issue resolved although the way it resolved it self is strange, and I don't know why it worked. I had to do a repair install of win10 pro 10240 for other reasons, but during the black percentage screen of windows setup something went awry and the install undid what it was doing. when windows loaded up again, the HIPS driver suddenly started working. I don't know why or how windows setup would cause he malfunctioning HIPS driver to start working, but whatever.....
  13. I have windows 10 release build 10240 and ess9 w/HIPS 1206. I was forces to revert from the threshold 2 update, because the upgrade borked my OS, I upgraded from ess 8 to 9 after upgrading to threshold 2, so when I reverted back to 10240, ESS got uninstalled. so had to install ess 9 again, but I am getting the invalid rules error from hips now. I already told ESS setup to repair my install once, but nothing seems to have changed.
