  1. Yes ESET agent and Antivirus are installed on the Xendesktop image before deployment. We also have 13 processing plants that use hundreds of basic Windows touch screen computers, when a touch screen device breaks it is unplugged and sent off site for repair and reimaging. The device that is removed is replaced by a new device and it is reconfigured to the area it is being used in. Again we have no control over this process and the antivirus is not uninstalled due to 24/7 production time constraints. I estimate that at minimum 2 of these devices are replaced a week. The images used do not have ESET and we cannot add ESET to them as it is controlled by a outside organisation. Again in this situation we will be wasting licenses as ESET is not uninstalled and ERA does not have the options for replacing devices will the same name or replacing mac addresses.
  2. Hi all, Just wondering what other people who use Citrix are going to do with the issue of license activation based on ESET Agent UID. Our Citrix XenDesktop environment works by having a single image that Citrix copies and deploys to 30 separate virtual servers. These servers work in a static state, so that when ever the server is rebooted all changes are wiped and the server boots up fresh as the day it was created. This process will probably not cause to many issues as the hardware is unchanged but it will require a weekly "reset cloned agent" task to be run. The licensing issues will probably come from the updates of the image, in our environment the old servers are shutdown and deleted and the new servers are created by Citrix automatically. I do not know if the VM hardware is changed during this process. If the hardware is changed we will use 30 licenses every week an update is pushed out. ESET have said that if the product is uninstalled the license is removed and all will be good. I am not filled with confidence in having to uninstall ESET each week as our environment is 24/7 so anytime systems have no AV is a risk. Is anybody using XenDesktop and ESET6 and does it chew the licenses or does Citrix hardware and therefore ESET UID stay the same not causing licensing problems? Thanks
  3. Yesterday I cloned a server by splitting the RIAD 1 array and re-enabling the separate arrays on two different servers. Today with the new server almost restored to working, name changed and added to the domain I see that ERA is reporting the old server name as in use and the new server name has not reported in, I figure ESET hasn't updated it information but no amount of reboots seems to get it to register. Do I leave it as it and bring the old server online and see what happens? What's required to get this working and license properly? Also the old ERA has settings to rename mac addresses and rename PC names, does the new ESET have this feature? We have a process in our production plants that broken hardware is removed and replaced with identical hardware with stock Windows, the unit then rebuilds into whatever is required at that particular station. The broken unit is reimaged back to standard Windows with no ESET and put back into the available repaired hardware pile collecting dust until it is required again, how are we going to go about organising the licensing so that we do not have to get involved with changing the licensing information of ERA every time a unit is replaced? Edit: Also what about our Xendesk environment, it seems that our Image server which had ESET installed and was used as the base image for the client facing server has reported on an IP address it can't have and none of the other servers have reported their own status. Do I need to push the agent to each server after every update is pushed? by update I mean we reimage the server and start with a fresh image.
  4. With close to 17 years in IT I have to say that this is the first ESET product that I do not like. From the installation through to the steps required to get it working properly after the setup is complete. I would assume anyone with ESET product knowledge will have issues with this. I have been working on ERA 6 for almost a week, I still cannot deploy an agent, activate clients or get ERA 6 to display nice messages about virus signatures being up to date even though the client is up to date. Not to mention the three fold price increase for ESFW. Which we will now be removing from our servers if we do get ERA 6 working. Current issues - Can't deploy agents. - ERA6 reports clients need signature update, clients do not report this and are updating daily. - Can't activate clients from ERA6 ERA6 is running on 2012 server, Windows firewall is disable, and the server has a hole created in the company firewall for testing. I must have read the agent deployment page at least 50 times double checked everything and still it won't deploy. I would call ERA 6 in it's current form Windows 8. Lets hope there is a damn quick upgrade to ERA 8, skipping 7 of course. Like Windows 8 I am prepared to give it about 2 more weeks, I will obviously be in touch with support, I can't be expected to waste all of my time trying to sort these features out. I would love to hear from someone that has ERA 6 working in a complex environment with dynamic groups and policies to match.
  5. Testing ERA6 and I can't figure this out. Can someone enlighten me on how I can create a dynamic group in ERA 6 that selects the machines based on Active Directory OU? Thanks Thanks
