Everything posted by foneil

  1. Changelog is posted: https://forum.eset.com/topic/14756-eset-cyber-security-version-656005-has-been-released/
  2. I am in the process of publishing the notification right now--there is always a slight delay from when the build is uploaded to the download server, when we see it, and how long it takes to make the appropriate posts for notification.
  3. I'm trying to confirm that this is still accurate, but according to https://support.eset.com/kb6097/#Silent_Install : The "silent" parameter is not functional in ESET endpoint products version 6.5 and later. When using the parameters, the installation is automated, but the GUI is visible during the installation. Which is why I'm interested to hear that your silent install worked.
  4. Afaik, there is no documented parameter for "--ignore" or something similar to do this. That doesn't mean it's not possible to do though. I would like to know what versions of ERA you're on (and which Endpoint version you're installing) since there is a documented Known Issue with silent deployments in ERA 6.5 so I'm interested to see what you're using.
  5. There is a workaround for this, but let me verify if it's the most up-to-date before posting it.
  6. I think a combination of these two articles, the first shows override mode and the second has an example for applying that to a policy: Enable Override mode in ESET Remote Administrator 6.5 http://help.eset.com/era_admin/65/en-US/admin_pol_override.htm
  7. Afaik, you can set up notifications of spam and threat messages to send to a mailbox but I'm not sure it can redirect spam- or threat-flagged messages to another mailbox.
  8. I can't speak to the recommended security precautions needed, but what I typically see suggested is that each PUP should be done manually to make sure it's something you want whitelisted across your whole network. For others (and if you can confirm this is the process you would use), we do have this KB article for whitelisting: Restore a PUA in ESET Remote Administrator using a hash value and exclude it from detection (6.5) I'm not sure about existing content for automatically whitelisting, but as I said above, I'm not sure this is recommended anyway.
  9. You can follow the first part of this KB article https://support.eset.com/kb6272/ steps 1 - 13, to reset current password, deactivate account, remove existing password store, and then create a new one.
  10. We have an Online Help topic related to configuring Mail Security with Sendmail, can you review that and see if that helps: http://help.eset.com/ems_linux/4/en-US/setting_esets_sendmail.html
  11. Most of the Knowledgebase content we have is for permissions and access rights that aren't this complex, but we do have content for setting up ERA like you've described. Here's one KB article: How to create branch office structure in ESET Remote Administrator 6.5 In the ERA Online Help: https://help.eset.com/era_admin/65/en-US/admin_access_rights.htm specifically, see the topics listed in the table List of Access Rights related examples.
  12. Have you seen this KB: Configure ESET Remote Administrator to automatically deploy ESET endpoint products to unprotected computers (6.x)
  13. It's not "pointing to config location", after you import the config, the settings are modified in the application. You can delete the config file or keep for backup.
  14. I'm asking again, unless you have any updates to share on this from your side?
  15. I believe the answer to your questions are: 1) Yes, I think the same recommendation applies to HS as it does for Sierra and Capitan: "To assure compatibility of your ESET Cyber Security product and macOS, we recommend that you do not update your macOS with the latest security update 10.11.6 or 10.12.6 before updating your ESET Cyber Security product with the latest updates." https://support.eset.com/alert6654/ 2) Yes, the config settings afaik don't have anything to do with this, it's the modules which aren't related.
  16. People using older versions of ESET products are being asked to upgrade to the latest: http://help.eset.com/outdated/eav/en-US/?version=9.0.425.0 I'm sorry about the communication regarding this, I don't think we have anything yet that explains these updates.
  17. The steps in the KB article (lmkbtfy) should walk you through exporting the config and importing the config: Import or export ESET configuration settings using an .xml file I realize the KB shows the latest version but the steps are the same. If you think it would be useful to show the export from v10 and import to v11 in the KB, let me know and I can see about updating the content to show that.
  18. In the Online Help I see the following (http://help.eset.com/log_collector/3.1/en-US/elc_cli.html) If you are running ESET Log Collector for the first time, ESET Log Collector requires the End-User License Agreement (EULA) to be accepted. To accept EULA, run the very first command with /accepteula parameter.
  19. This post isn't directly related to ESET but the results can be applied to the work we do regarding our technical documentation (for which I'm responsible). We care about the quality of our support documentation and are always looking for ways to improve it. One, very important metric is user feedback, which is always in short supply. There is an ongoing study to help determine how readers define documentation quality, based on 15 empirically tested information quality dimensions (modified from Wang & Strong, 1996).If you can complete this small, anonymous questionnaire https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/JSK9ZL9we will really appreciate it. The results of this study will be analyzed and prepared for publication/presentation when enough data has been collected. Thanks for your help! For more details, see:Wang R. & Strong, D. (1996). 20. We’re sorry for your experience with the Affiliate Program. We continually make changes to improve the administration and customer experience and we’re hoping that the changes to the processes we’ve implemented will help partners like you now and going forward. First, for other users that don’t know, the ESET Affiliate program is an ESET North America program that allows you to make money from your website for marketing ESET products. More information can be found on the ESET Affiliate web page: https://www.eset.com/us/business/partner/online-affiliates/ For your issue @ep2012, the default policy is set to automatically deny the application for every new member to the Commission Junction platform. This is by design. One of the changes we’ve made to the process is to allow new users to contact us directly via Commission Junction and we are committed to a 24-48 hour response time for such requests. We’ll look to address this in our content as well to make this more clear.
  21. I am connecting with those responsible for this program (the person you named is no longer with ESET and this program is handled by others now).
  22. We published this as temp solution: Module update failed: "Your license file does not contain a Username or Password. You can update only from an update mirror."
  23. The Report option is correct, I think. I can't speak for everyone, but I don't view those as overtly "negative", others use that to comment on a post or thread and the Reports list for Mods is a good place to not lose track of these. As long as you leave a comment regarding why you flagged the thread or post, it should be fine.
