  4. We received a response from the team responsible for this system--it was a legitimate email (that is was from ESET) but it was incorrectly sent to you. The reason for this has been resolved but please continue to let us know if you (if anyone) receive incorrect email templates.
  5. These emails are generated by a system not controlled by us (i.e., me) so we (KB) have asked those responsible for an explanation. They have responded to us that they are looking into it. I expect an answer after the weekend, but it's safe to assume that it's some minor glitch, but we'll find out for sure.

Previously created Software Install tasks will fail because they refer to the previous version of the ESET Endpoint product. To upgrade clients to the latest version, you must use the package Install by direct package URL installation option, as installing from the existing repository will not work at this time. Select the Install by direct package URL option (see step 8b in the previous Knowledgebase article).   15. I understand--all I know is what I said in my first post. Another "outside the box" idea is to just install EEA in the mean time--your license should work for both EES/EEA--and then when you are ready for the Firewall, upgrade the workstations to EES.
  16. I'm not familiar with a way to disable just the notification--you mean both the ! in the menu bar and the "Firewall !" icon in the Protection status screen? I think the only way to not see it is to unintegrate the firewall altogether, but you probably don't want to do that because the Firewall includes web access protection and protocol filtering.

We do have an ESET Knowledgebase article with the support solution provided to LocknetSSmith (the same MS hotfix), albeit the article only identifies ESS/EAV Business Edition and wasn't updated for EEA/EES (we've had this solution since Sep 2014): System is unresponsive with ESET's server products installed on Windows Vista, 7, 2008 Server, SBS 2008 and later hxxp://kb.eset.com/esetkb/index?page=content&id=SOLN2567 Let us know if this KB solution works and provide any additional feedback to update the article.
  20. Are ESET Smart Security and ESET NOD32 Antivirus compatible with Windows Defender? Windows Vista/7: All ESET products are completely compatible with Microsoft Windows Defender. Windows Defender does not contain any antivirus functionality, so you will not need to uninstall or disable Microsoft Windows Defender when installing your ESET security product. Windows 8: If you receive a "Detection of installed security software" notification while installing ESET on Windows 8, disable Windows Defender before you continue the installation process. This article/content in the ESET KB is from September, 2014: if anyone has information that shows that this information is incorrect (regarding compatibility with Windows Defender), please let us know. As stated, Windows 8 may require disabling in some circumstances.
