  1. In reading this, I realize that it sounds a bit ungrateful for the help I receive in this forum. I apologize if that is the impression I made, because I do appreciate the assistance!

  3. Sounds like you are discounting the concern that users have when they are witnessing what appears to be a malfunctioning ESET product. Users are always advised to keep their product fully updated. When the spinning icon is telling them that the update process is not working properly, there is more than a little concern. YOU may be aware that it is "a visual glitch", but users are not.
  4. Clearing update cache worked well for me just prior to shutting down that particular machine last night. Upon boot up this a.m. there was no continually spinning ESET icon showing update in progress when it wasn't. This practice brings to mind the possibility of ESET making that a permanent setting option... clearing update cache on reboot. Maybe there is a good reason to not do that? I don't know.
  5. When I stated that I can't imagine posting here about an issue without having the most current version, I meant doing that myself. But I can imagine that some others don't have the most current version when they post with an issue. That's why I said, "I guess you have to ask users". I consider having most recent product version to be a minimal first step before asking for assistance. TY for your reply, peteyt.
  6. I guess you have to ask users if they are running the latest version, but I can't imagine posting here about an issue without having the most current version. Truth is, when I said it happens periodically, I mean during the last year, at least. For right now, Marcos, I'm going to give Karen2's suggestion (clearing update cache) a try and see if that helps.   7. Same never-ending product update happens on one of my machines. Real PITA. Rebooting is the only thing that gets ESET out of update stuck mode. Happens periodically. Probably happens to a great many users and they don't see the sys tray icon spinning and realize the sluggishness is due to ESET.
  8. I installed 14.1.19 via the internal program updater. I did that back when 14.1.19 first was released. And I installed 14.1.20 the same way. Not from scratch. I always use the internal program updater. I was told to reboot after updating, on two computers. Got the same ESET pop up that talked about a new & improved behavior blocker and improved ransomeware protection on both machines. It has been a long, long time (years) since I installed ESET from scratch.

Then, as mentioned, after installing the upgrade and rebooting, I got an ESET pop up that talked about a new & improved behavior blocker and improved ransomeware protection and something else I can't remember. That pop up message actually appeared twice until I answered it with a "Got it", as I recall. Again, as noted, the message after updating was a lot more involved than a fix for webcam protection and device control. TY for the reply, Aryeh Goretsky.

  13. No. TY for posting the link to the old related topic. It's worth toggling the setting from OFF to ON to OFF to see if that does anything. In my original post I commented that I hoped the message was a one-off, and so far, that is the case. Still a mystery as to why the marketing message appeared.

  17. I always purchase ESET NOD32 from Newegg. Are they considered my "local ESET distributor"? In the 8 years that I have been using ESET NOD32, I have never been told to contact my local distributor when I have a problem with the program. Thank you.

  19. For as long as I can remember, and I've been running ESET NOD32 on my computers for 8 years, a new release has never been preceded by Release Notes. Never. Always after the fact.
  20. Always seems backwards to me that users are given the opportunity to upgrade to a new version before they are able to consult a changelog.

  22. Yes, the problem is still visible, however there's a lot about your reply that I don't understand. I don't know where to turn on Enable Kernel advanced logging setting? The Security center service you reference as having a delayed start is not a delayed start on my system. I don't understand that you say to turn off logging (after saying to turn on advanced logging), I don't know what ETL logs are and I don't know the location of the Diagnostics folder. Are these instructions for ESET NOD32 user? Itman said in response that it "Appears you're going to have to wait for Eset to fix this". That makes sense, and I can live with that. In fact, it would be helpful to me to know if this is happening to other users. I appreciate your reply, JozefG, but much of it was unclear to me.
