TheStill received kudos from antoniu200 in What is the Design on the New ESET Startup Screen and Packaging?
It is obviously a change for marketing reasons. While I can see where they were going with the new design it just isn't very relatable. Layered protection doesn't really mean much to the majority of people. But mention AI or Android and that's instantly a lot more recognisable.
I would prefer the Android over the new logo.

We're going to adjust the reporting of EPNS so that the notification appears only if there's a problem on user's end (e.g. if the communication with EPNS servers is blocked by a firewall or proxy). EPNS has no effect on protection whatsoever.

nsis7z.dll is a legitimate very popular dll. It's clean and not subject to detection. In this case it was two js files inside an embedded archive which are malicious and are now detected.

    Hello @FranceBB,
I understand your frustration, but from our past experience it was really needed to list systems, on which our products bas been tested and are supposed to work as expected. With the vast amount of Linux distros it's not feasible to support all of them, as it is a wild place
Don't tell anyone 😉, but I recommend to set it up on a supported distribution to check if the issue is the same and if yes, report a ticket from it.
I guess that the solution / work-around will be than same for the Linux distribution of your choice 😉

TheStill gave kudos to Marcos in eset push notification service cannot be reached ??
Connections to the EPNS servers are still being throttled, however, we've been gradually allowing more and more clients to connect. We expect full EPNS functionality to be restored within today.

    Hello guys,
The fix is being deployed into the production and requests to connect to the EPNS service are being throttled to keep the load under control.
So the situation is improving, but it will take some time to restore the full EPNS functionality in a controlled manner.

We apologize for the inconvenience caused by this

This sounds like the words subscription and automatic renewal are getting mixed up.
From what you are describing this is the ability to cancel automatic renewals will be made easier.
I have a subscription to Netflix I pay monthly but I don't have a subscription to my car insurance that I pay yearly.
I believe this is what is confusing people.

Can you clarify what you mean by subscription as cannot see anything anywhere online.
Do you mean that eset will go to a monthly subscription option instead of yearly etc.

Just curious what you mean by transition to subscription model as eset currently is A subscription e.g. for a year

For those who missed this posting in the Malware section of the forum: https://forum.eset.com/topic/34454-new-whql-rootkits/ , a China based individual posted that he had submitted to Eset Virus Lab 31 attestation signed kernel mode drivers that were rootkits.
At the time of the posting which was a month ago, only one vendor at VirusTotal detected these drivers which was CloudStrike Falcon as suspicious with a final malicious verdict. It took Eset Virus Lab two days to determine that these drivers were indeed malicious rootkit drivers and issue a signature for them. Assume that if the poster never submitted these drivers to VT, they would still be floating around in the wild infecting Windows installations.
I  again ask is it not time Eset start warning about attempted attestation signed driver installation?

TheStill gave kudos to itman in licence new not used but can't activated !!!
The problem with the request for a listing of expired license keys is the OP has shrink rapped boxed versions. Legally once the seal of the box is broken, they can not be returned. Nor can any further claim be made in regards money refunds. Therefore Eset NWA Africa must unconditionally guaranty issuance of a new valid equivalent product license for each current expired license. Further since it is the OP's practice not to use purchased licenses until needed; e.g. current license expiration, it must be clearly stated what is the expiration date of all newly issued licenses.

You keep asking the same questions after we have answered.
The simple thing is any kind of malware, eset should be able to detect. The only thing it may not detect is stuff that is new e.g. zero day vulnerabilities that have not been found yet.
The only problem is bios, UEFI etc. malware, AVs can only detect but they cannot remove - you will need to flash it. However these are generally targeted at high targets. Like Nightowl said government may want to steal state secrets from another government but there's no real point in trying to infect someone like us because there'd be no point.
Either accept you are not infected or flash it - there's no more answers anyone can give you.

As I mentioned malware can infect multiple places. You keep asking the same question when it's already been answered.
Just have safe practises and you'll be fine. That's the only advice I can give

I will add that a virus has to be found for protection to be added.
It's not impossible that a virus is out there that has been out for years and never detected. But as people have said these viruses are probably used on a select number of computers as the more computers used the more likely someone will detect something.
Some vulnerabilities can exist for years without being detected. I'm sure the Intel spectre one did. The NSA and other government companies actually look for vulnerabilities and keep them to their selves so they have stuff they can use, rather than reporting them and getting them fixed

If a new virus uses the same techniques as a previous virus, then there is a good chance that it will be detected. If the people who made the virus discover a new exploit, then it wouldn't be detected. But at the same time, they are not going to waste that on attacking a random person's computer. They'll save that for attacking a high-level person's computer e.g., a politician or CEO. As once the anti-virus companies pick up on this then the exploit becomes worthless.
For regular people this isn't something you will have to worry about.

The secure browser is not running sandboxed but the advanced memory protection ensures that other applications cannot read browser's memory. It also prevents untrusted dlls from being loaded in the browser and provides anti-keylogger protection by scrambling keystrokes.

Depends on the complexity of the exploit and if the attacker chooses to share it with other attackers. But it is entirely possible for something to go undiscovered for years.
I'm no expert on the matter but my understanding is this would be more likely to be a state backed finding. Which again would really only be interested in high level people.
