Invitations were sent to selected active forum users in the past. If you were selected, your forum account should still be a member of the Insiders group and you should have received information about the beta.
As for testing Endpoint Security v9 beta, I'll leave this to @Peter Randziakto answer.

Beta v15 was provided only to the members of the ESET Insider program. It will be released in a few days.
Currently we have ESET Endpoint Security v9 available for beta testing.

It's basically whitelisted files, files signed by Microsoft, files not carrying malware, such as text files, etc. that are not submitted so any file that might be potentially malicious should be submitted. Below is a screenshot of what happens if you attempt to run a new malware extracted from an archive:

After downloading the uPCU update, the product will turn yellow, informing the user about the recommendation to reboot the machine.

The notification can be disabled for users in the Application statuses setup where you can choose only to report it to the EP console:

An automatic update should become available approximately 30 days after the release.

To enable program auto updates, create a policy and enable this setting:

You will have to send an ESET PROTECT component upgrade task to clients to upgrade agent to v8.1.
If you enable automatic program updates via a policy, approximately after 30 days you will have just to accept the current EULA and endpoints will update automatically to the latest version. Alternatively you can send a software install task to clients but this will require a computer restart.
It's also possible to upgrade just Endpoint and ESET PROTECT later. It's even possible to upgrade just agent and ESET PROTECT and Endpoint later but that would not make sense and would not give you any new benefits.

What I will do is use lock screen the next time I am away from the PC for a long enough period to verify or not Eset will update in lock screen mode.
BTW - it is more secure to sign-off versus using lock screen when the PC is unattended for an extended period of time. In sign-off mode, the Internet connection will not be active.
